Seattle Seahawks' CB Devon Witherspoon, the No. 5 overall pick in April's draft, is not expected on the field for the start of training camp as both sides have been unable to reach a contract agreement.
Witherspoon is the final player among this year’s 259 draft picks to sign.
This feels like an official word that Witherspoon won't be there when camp begins today. Seattle has never had a rookie holdout in the CBA era. As noted earlier hangup appears to be the ordering of the paying out of the $20.17 million bonus.
The trade deadline is in one week. The Mariners have been 10 different combinations of .500 in the last 30 games.
