@ryanpatrickauth Oh also! I just remembered, for those interested in learning all kind of useful stuff about currently issued weapons (can also serve as good inspiration): check the ‘Training Circular’ portion of the armypubs website. Ever wanted to learn how to use a Javelin? TC 3-22.37.
@ryanpatrickauth No battle is complete without 30 pages of the cast doing MDMP while scouring the pages FM 5-0 for a way to make 3rd COA that’s no complete dogshit.
@Clint_Davey1 It's like you morons have never heard of direct-lay in your entire life. You are thinking of being an artillery Cannonier. Mortars, especially 60's like shown here engage targets they can visual see while being in extremely close proximity to the FLOT all the time.
@mntwrf The myth of "unwinnable insurgency" has washed the reputation of people like Paul Bremmer, who absolutely should've been prosecuted for gross incompetence.
@AlasdairAdam I think most science fiction has a pedagogical aspect, if they take the science part even remotely seriously, they teach you about how the world works and then twist that to suit the narrative.
@hillme89 It would dramatically change the shape of engagements. That being said, PR, Arma, and Squad show that mortars depicted well aren’t necessarily game breaking. Certainly would make certain Battlefield maps actually fun to play in rush.
