There’s a tendency to rush ahead before knowing much about this neighborhood or its FD channels. Rudimentary, even shoddy resources are circulating promising LAFD radio and maps of the Palisades fire—just like there's incomplete info in other forms coming from outside our community, many of the maps I have tried are incomplete at best.
Here is your minute-by-minute guide, complete with a heat map of the Palisades fire from @markets_sh. All FD radio communication is available, and the explanations for why emergency crews were called to homes, evacuations, water supplies, and (critically) what could be saved and could not be contained.
I implore you to seek good information.
Here is how you start: @runaway_vol has lifted all paywalls for the service because, more than anything, it is a gift to the Los Angeles and Pacific Palisades, including my Begakis family.
Thank you, friends, for the compassion you've shown my family and me.

As some of you know, my wife’s (@jenbegakis) family lost their home in the Palisades fire.
I have used AI to map the responders’ radio communications (link below).
We’ve wanted to better understand what was happening on Tuesday, as it was all a blur. I downloaded the feeds provided by @Broadcastify and used my company’s tech to transcribe, cluster, and localize the scanner communications.
We’ve actually found calls close to the home and learned that the firefighters wanted to save the block, but there was no water available. This provides a little bit of closure. I’m putting this online in hopes it will help others affected.
Right now, it’s only one feed, as the system is still transcribing and analyzing the data.
I want to thank the heroic efforts of the firefighters, first responders, and the countless people who have shown kindness, help, and generosity.
Please consider donating to the relief efforts. God bless.
proud of how our ai-assisted research is coming together. from open-ended questions to a full list of relevant companies with minimal effort, our clients are reporting hours of work saved each day.
watch it below as it asks questions about biontech’s cancer vaccines, retrieves updates from the company page, and finally creates a comprehensive list of cancer vaccine developers with a single query.

this is a work in progress of the private company page, valuation events are triangulated from news about funding rounds and secondaries. we are using models to find peers, private and public and mark the companies to market. it's still a bit brittle but works surprisingly well already. (gazprom is obviously not a peer, will have to check what's going on there)
the second screen is a work in progress of events, goal is to have low-noise summaries of all significant news with impact, event type, entiment and sumamries in a tidy timeline.
