@deaninserra@sendnetwork Im a SBC replanter in Manchester NH. I just started the plant this year. Thank you for loving on planter and replanters. Also, thank you for your book Guide to the church. At my last church I used it as a gift for first time guests.
When "excellence" becomes more important than people on your church team, hearts harden.
You can tell when a creative culture has gone toxic: the feedback is always about what's wrong, never about what's working.
People stop taking risks. The work gets safer. And the best volunteers leave because they'd rather do nothing than do everything wrong.
Excellence matters. But not more than the humans pursuing it.
For years, California leaders accused oil companies of price gouging at the pump, but a state investigation found no evidence of that. Instead, a CBS News California investigation found what's really driving the highest gas prices in the U.S. https://t.co/NTCE6Dx6kl
How to approach Church services differently this Easter:
1. Prepare your heart before you arrive.
2. Read the crucifixion & resurrection accounts beforehand.
3. Invite someone to come w/ you that needs the truth of the resurrection.
4. Worship in the car on the way.
5. Sing like the resurrection is true & matters.
6. Take notes because God is speaking through His Word.
7. Live like the Resurrection is still true on Monday.
Distorted end-times theology can become dangerous. When our view of the future is shaped more by fear, speculation, or tribalism than by the character of Jesus, we can start justifying actions that look nothing like Christ.
Racist. Deranged. Humiliating to our country. The fact that we have decided to pretend to this is normal every day is a moral abomination. Have we any shame?
And every day an entire generation is being told it is “Christian” to support this. God have mercy on us.
What happens when someone fails you?
You can either be a law-keeper, holding the other to a standard that you cannot keep yourself, or be a grace-giver, freely forgiving like the Father.
Legalism is deadly in relationships; grace is life-giving.
