22 April 1819. Battle of Grahamstown.
Around 350 British soldiers held the town against roughly 6,000 Xhosa warriors led by Nxele.
Outnumbered, surrounded, and under heavy assault, but they didn’t break. The attack was repelled. The line held.
A clear defensive victory that secured British control in the region. 🏴🇬🇧
The Bois Jacques. Easy Company’s line during the siege of Bastogne. Some foxholes maintained, some original, all in the same ground. Visited today on a battlefield tour with Sea the World travel.
