Couture money coming off the books next year plus some expiring contracts for Goody, Orlov, Gaudette, Toff the year after. Cap is going to increase every year as well. The Nurse deal isn’t great but Trouba is down to $4.5M by year 3, Nurse deal is pretty rough unless he elevates but he brings a nice edge to a super young D group and a ton of playoff experience.
Bystedt, Musty, Cardwell, Lund, Sahlin-Wallenius will be solid call-up depth over the next year or two and plenty more coming up behind from NCAA and juniors. We’re golden folks, everybody relax 🙏
In Grier I trust. This is going to be a locker room team. Celebrini, Smith, Graf, Cherny, are all only going to get better and adding Stenberg and Marchmant gives us 3 rock solid lines. If the D can just be a smidge better and Askarov gets a smidge better, we can easily get into the playoffs out of the Pacific.
@PavlovicNBCS Invented a new word to describe this Giants team: “Nomentum”. The complete allergy to momentum. Anytime you think they’re about to turn a corner they’ll find a way, hell or high water, to completely screw it up.
@johncanzanobft Well they absolutely kicked our ass so they deserve to talk a bit. Not a lot of room to complain when you completely roll over in a super regional. Don’t like it, play better.
@OregonBaseball@calscolari This ump is gunna be a problem. He’s not giving any corners or height or width, just calling em right down the middle or nothing.
I hope Columbus sticks with Ted Ginn. Those dudes have played really hard all year long and have never once looked like they’ve given up in a game despite their record. They’ve steadily gotten better throughout the year and have just been a good watch every week. Huge testament to the league really raising the floor on the competitive balance of the league.
As a Sharks fan, I hate to say it but Vegas has ascended to a point as an organization where the regular season is completely irrelevant to them. They can coast, win enough to get into the playoffs, and then put the pedal to the metal and run through just about anybody on any given night. Chiefs dynasty run in football was like this, Dodgers in baseball are currently like this. Some teams, just win enough for long enough and they develop that ability to throttle down and up at will in order to finish the season at the top.
@OregonBaseball@junior_lauaki Please get this message to the team: stop swinging at all the fastballs up in the zone; none of them are strikes. There’s a reason you’re not even fouling off those pitches.
Bingo. If Chapman is going to have ABs like he did last night and he’s under contract just sit him, who cares, let him sit and he’ll either be fine with the break or he might get pussed enough to lift his NTC and maybe we can find a way to move him. Let’s win some damn games and put the best lineup out there. He’ll have more extended opportunities down the line eventually maybe it’ll ultimately remove the pressure and he can get his feet under himself and then it’s a win for everyone.
Gotta add on against the number 1 team if you expect to take that series, one big inning ain’t gunna cut it. Played hard though and took em to the wire. Now we know we can take ‘em if we match up again down the road, not a team that we have to be afraid of. Good series, just gotta finish strong next week against USC.
I actually really like the point about having a roster that’s built around vets that might be a little too comfortable since they’re made men already and how that isn’t going to gel with Vitello’s coaching style. Give him a young roster that’s hungry and wants the rah rah and I would not be shocked if he could do a lot more with less proven MLB talent simply cuz they’re more open to actually receiving the coaching.
@GiantHotTakes Just get back to the basics. Have a good night on the bump, get another shot next time around. Same with hitting. Doesn’t mean you get benched if you go hitless but as long you battle and have some good ABs, you should stay in the lineup.
@GiantHotTakes 2 out of the three of Devers, Adames, Chapman should be on the bench every night for the foreseeable future—not sure why Adames and Devers continue to be slotted back to back in the lineup right now. Not really giving Bryce a chance with that ahead of him.
Columbus or Birmingham. Houston can’t keep their QBs healthy, Louisville can’t run the ball a lick so teams just pin their ears back and they can’t stay on schedule and are always behind the sticks. Columbus on the other hand can run the shit out of the football and they’re a tight knit squad. DTR is a dog for Bham, that roster is rock solid too and he’s got them going in the right direction.
