In her first cover story since outcry over a lawmaker’s vulgar comments, #AnneCurtis speaks out on misogyny in the Philippines and offers advice to men everywhere: “When men call it out among their friends or coworkers or strangers, that’s when culture really begins to shift.”
used to be a fan of her in a way that she’s very vocal about things, lalo na sa mga bagay na hindi napagtutuunan ng pansin. that’s why i stopped reading her stuff when she was silent about the flood control projects. i mean sure, it’s their choice to engage or not but given that she built her career and was given platform by being someone that’s socially aware, the silence made her look hypocritical and performative. now she just looks like some typical influencer who only engage to topics that benefit them lol
thinking about that jalen hurts interview i saw yesterday where they asked if hiring an all-women team was intentional and he was like “no, i just hired the most qualified people.” the fact that some people still think hiring women is “performative” is so weird to me.
