Remembering a glorious past. President Benigno S. Aquino III ( Pnoy ) signed the landmark sin tax law on December 20 , 2012 basically to provide the funding for Philhealth by raising taxes for tobacco and alcohol and reduce the burden of noncommunicable diseases.

I vividly remember that 12 years ago , health advocates and government officials ( executive and legislative branches ) fought for the Filipino people.

As we stand on the precipice of a new fiscal year, the national budget looms large. Yet, without a genuine and thorough investigation and restructuring of PhilHealth, we risk implementing a system riddled with inefficiencies and corruption. The urgency of this moment cannot be overstated; we must act now to ensure that our resources are used to heal, not to harm.

In a time when the health of our nation should be paramount, it is disheartening to witness a lack of focus from our leaders. The House of Representatives has been preoccupied with various issues, yet the fundamental right to health care has been overshadowed. This neglect is not just a political failure; it is a moral one, with real lives hanging in the balance.

Will Pres. BBM @bongbongmarcos veto the 2025 GAA for the next generation of Filipino people?
