When the movie review show on cable TV ended with 2017, work began on developing a podcast w/ my co-producer/co-host @Paul_Markoff. Please give a listen to our new show @filmbound, available at https://t.co/5p6Y1ISLO7 and https://t.co/6UXB0BJc9m.
As an audiovisual experience, Air playing MOON SAFARI (plus a second set) ranks among the best concerts I’ve attended. Sound was impeccable at Detroit’s 96-year-old Fox Theatre.
No live actor present but otherwise got the full MEGALOPOLIS experience: IMAX, a few walkouts, and a trio of older viewers grousing when the end credits started that it was the longest movie ever.
@DFilipi1 Any idea when the film will start? While I’d like to make it, I don’t get off work until 7 and am probably not able to get there until 15-20 after.
@vrizov I assume those are resale tickets, not face value. Still, makes you think they don’t implement resale at face value because they’ll sell tickets to resellers trying to make a quick buck/loony.
Been a lousy year at the movies—or maybe it’s just me, as I haven’t been wild about a number of the better-reviewed films. Today’s double feature of GOOD ONE and THE CONVERSATION was probably my best moviegoing day this year.
Maybe it’s always been like this & I’m less plugged in now, but in multiplex listings this year, it seems there’s a lot more “content” (films I’ve never heard of/seen promoted & generally have few reviews). Is this a result of major studios mostly ceding the mid-range space?
It’s wild that if the White Sox maintain their win-loss percentage for the rest of the season, they’ll tie for the worst season by that measure in the modern era and be the first since 1935 not to reach 40 wins (while having more games on the schedule).
MLB should just go all-in and have the All-Stars change into different ugly uniforms every inning to increase the multiplier on jersey sales. (No, but really, just let the players wear their own regular uniforms.
One of the most entertaining games I’ve been to in some time:
-Shohei Ohtani: triple, HR, & stolen base on a pickoff attempt.
-28 combined hits & 6 HRs (incl. one off foul pole, 2-run tying HR in the bottom of the 9th, & 2-run walk-off)
-20 runs w/ five in the bottom of the 9th
