@jointdocShields @northwoods1980 🤷‍♂️referral pattern as you are at a tertiary care center and get the worst of the worse? I still think these are a missed fracture or AVN of so e sort. They were miserable and someone tried an injection to help, it failed and they ended up seeing you for THA.

@northwoods1980 You are correct. I inject hundreds of hip OA patients every year with great relief for 90% and zero further progression. The ones that dont respond go onto successful THA, but no love lost or worse outcomes and no catastrophic progression

@northwoods1980 Whats the harm in injections every 6 months that provide 80% pain relief in a diabetic with A1C of 9 and endstage arthritis who wont change their diet or habits. Much safer and better result than an infected TKA

@northwoods1980 Treat the patient, not the images. Most patients want quick relief and dont think about the long term. Sure, activity modification, exercise, weight loss, diabetes/HTN/gout management is a better long term fix, but most wont comply even when properly explained.
