Gotta feel sorry for these Knicks players for having to play in such in a big market.
I'm sure Brunson wishes he was playing for a team in a tax-free state with warm weather. Somewhere with less media and where no one would recognize him
Same deal as last summer. Love the person, but this team needs transactions and creativity. Sat on his hands for a full year, now need to make a jump - a very telling offseason ahead
Extended ✍️
The Toronto Raptors and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment announced that they have agreed to a multi-year extension for General Manager and Executive Vice President Bobby Webster.
Can’t call it 3/3 yet for the Chayka era because it’s too hard to quantify these. Most importantly, he is making changes and clearing the deck - none of this weird hockey holdover stuff. Positive development
Wonder about all the other unsubstantiated claims that go without explicit public reporting. NHL is a dinosaur old boys club and this is a nothing burger
Sources: Prior to Sunday, the #NHL looked into a tampering concern raised as new Maple Leafs GM John Chayka began to hire his staff.
The claim was unsubstantiated but underlined the suspicion some counterparts have for Chayka as he resurfaces.

Feeling validated about this take at least. In the end, they cost themselves a second round appearance (at minimum) based on their consistent inaction.
Big summer ahead to actually make moves
In the year they can actually compete, they abandon the center position and elect to ride it out. Quite the choice amidst a slew of other questionable ones - see you back here next year
Keith Pelley is still way in over his head and his expiry date is probably coming, but for now I’d prefer Chayka than Doug Armstrong. The Sundin thing is weird but we’ll see what else they do and go from there.
Chayka vs Treliving is a no brainer even if both their track records suck. I don’t think the NHL has too many standout executives anyways, may as well roll the dice on someone who could be
I couldn’t care less about what hockey reporters think, but I like the Chayka hire in the same way I liked Dubas. The optimistic view is a creative thinker, hopefully someone who will make moves (because we need them) and someone who values skill.
We need RJ Barrett in Toronto for the rest of his career after this playoff run. There's just nothing cooler than this dude who grew up rooting for the Raptors making massive plays and the entire city going nuts and getting behind him.
We can laugh about the cap situation in the offseason after this run, but boy have the Raps found a real nucleus in Scottie, RJ (hopefully longer term), CMB, Jakobe and Shead
This. Those were the best 3 quarters of play I’ve seen from the Raps in the last 5 years. Ran out of steam + went cold at the worst time but an incredible effort
quickley out, ingram done after 11 disastrous minutes, scottie badly hobbled, cavs shot 18-36 from 3, and raps were in it til the end & lost by 2 possessions. this team has really shown me something, man
Will say I’m into Chayka. I trust smart people to take advantage of dumb hockey GMs. Sundin as POHO? Sure, could be Sakic or could be PR. Worth a shot. Think Gillis would maybe come in as an advisor to Sundin on the side too…better than what we had!
Won’t matter who the Leafa GM or Exec team is if they end up keeping Berube in place. The scariest possibility is that they give him the Keefe freebie year - needs to be a clean slate for the team to build up properly
