@TheoMaret Yep, agreed on the gaps in expectation and need to bridge them and state contingency can help do that. My point rather is the ICMA work suggested state contingency works better if it links repayments to repayment capacity in a linear and sustainable manner?
@TheoMaret by introducing repayment threshold effects and nonlinearities, that can divorce repayments from repayment capacity? Yes, sweeteners can help get a deal over the line, but potentially at cost to the borrower further down the line. 2/2
@TheoMaret Is it not a little surprising that VRIs and VRI like features are being availed of in this case and others given the work that went into the ICMA appraisal of state contingent instruments 7-10 years ago showed how potentially problematic VRIs can be for the borrower, 1/2

So far no systemic crises in EMs after a strong tightening in advanced economies (so far!). Is this time really that different? Could not think a better policy panel than this one to address this question. Thanks to @RobinBrooksIIF @Global_ayhan@ClaraRaposoBdP & Frank Warnock

For most sports people, achieving any one of scoring a great goal at a football World Cup, making a Test double century, or taking a 7 wicket haul would be career defining.
Ellyse Perry has done all three.
