@Undoomed Few people seem to fully understand such terms as "triggered" and "snowflake". How would you define them in their original spirit to avoid confusion with watered down meanings?
@TaraBull808 No, because they did apologize. Sure, it was an insincere apology -- more or less "we're sorry you didn't understand our enlightened ways" -- but it was one. I'll accept it.
That said, I haven't watched the Olympics in since the previous century and I doubt that I will now.
@elonmusk There are risks either way. Every four years we are told that the wrong choice of President will lead to some great disaster. Every election people pick a President that gets us closer to that point. Every election.
@ylecun@elonmusk Why pick Norway as your example? Norway isn't trying to be a world superpower and doesn't have a huge debt. This is comparing apples and oranges.
@WallStreetSilv If only brains, debating ability, speaking ability, and communication ability actually decided elections.
No, it's charisma, and near-martyrs get +3 to their charisma rolls.
@Kneon While that is put very dramatically, I think that it's essentially correct. The culture war is ultimately a philosophy war, and some are designed to be destructive and nihilistic out of a hatred for the current social order. The Last Jedi is a perfect example.
@RichardDawkins I don't see how. I can see the argument for hiding instructions to create military weaponry, but that wouldn't be hiding science as such.
