27 (1978) purchased for $25,000 on a 3 year land contract (Michigan) at 11% (max allowed by law) when mortgage interest rates were around 15%. Best part was the seller’s mortgage was assumable so after the 3 years we took over the mortgage at 5.85% with no credit checks, income verification or other nonsense. Just signed and filed the assumption document.
