@Jacob_Rees_Mogg The English are defined mainly by ancestry, though shared culture and national loyalty are also factors. Everybody equal under the law is a great tradition, but it can't hold under conditions of mass immigration. English legal culture has to adapt to the times.

Most Ukrainian men today don't have that choice.
They are forcibly mobilized — grabbed off the streets, separated from their loved ones, and sent to the front, against their will, to kill and die. In the lost war that can't be won.

You served in a rear position, not for months at the zero line, where Ukrainian soldiers endure conditions civilians can barely imagine: shortages of water, food, medicine, and sometimes even the most basic means of survival.

You are a general’s daughter. You had privileges an ordinary Ukrainian soldier does not.

Ordinary soldiers often report hazing, abuse, suicidal orders, and violence within their own units. Read the investigations and testimonies concerning units such as Skelia, the 225th, and Shkval.

Before lecturing Ukrainians about duty, listen to the Ukrainians who are actually being forced to pay for that duty with their bodies.

🛑I am not an “apologist for national surrender.”

I am an advocate for Ukraine's national survival.
And there is no national survival without people left alive to constitute a nation.

Ukraine is bleeding people through death, injury, displacement, and demographic collapse. Millions have left, and many will never return. Births have collapsed while deaths vastly outnumber them.

And Ukrainians are dying to the soundtrack of your and other neoconservative voices chanting: “Stand with Ukraine.”

Standing with Ukraine should mean standing with Ukrainians, not with its corrupt political elites who turn war into a profitable business.

Standing with Ukraine should mean not treating Ukrainian lives as an inexhaustible resource for Western geopolitical convictions against Russia.

People like you, Meaghan, increasingly struggle to conceal the contempt beneath the rhetoric. Moral superiority and condescension cannot forever hide behind slogans about a “just peace” and Ukraine’s right to resist.

If you want more war and more blood, go to the front yourself. Take your own loved ones with you.

Leave my people alone.
And spare Ukrainians the lectures about how they ought to die.

@PWestoff Your duty is to your family and nation - i.e. to the people of the nation. The only moral reason to obey the government is if they are governing on behalf of the nation. In our case they aren't.
