In 2019, Zelensky won a landslide election campaigning on uniting the ethnically divided former Soviet Republic. Once elected, however, under the thumb of the Banderites, he changed his tune. He could have told Biden, "I won’t sacrifice my country for your war against Russia," but chose not to.

December 2021, Biden rejected Putin’s proposed mutual security accords that would have left “neutral” #Ukraine intact. Biden told Putin, “Russia doesn’t say who can join NATO.” Once again, as in Minsk I and II, Russia’s legitimate security concerns were brushed aside.

According to ex-Biden adviser Amanda Sloat, senior director for Europe on the National Security Council, Ukraine could have avoided war in December 2021 with one step: “Ukrainian declaration of neutrality,” she said, “would have prevented the destruction and loss of life."

Vladimir Putin did not wake up on 24 February 2022 and decide, “I think I’ll invade eastern Ukraine today,” nor was the US campaign to expand NATO into Ukraine a last-minute maneuver. US State Department documents show Ukraine’s future membership was discussed as early as 1994.

Ukraine joined NATO's "Partnership for Peace" program during Bill Clinton's admin in 1994 and participated in NATO's "Peace Shield" training exercise in 1996. A formal partnership, the NATO-Ukraine Commission, was established with the NATO-Ukraine charter in July 1997.

At the Bucharest NATO summit in April 2008, George W. Bush announced that Ukraine is on an “immediate path to NATO.” Bill Burns, ambassador to Russia, sent a memo to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice: “Across the board," he wrote, "the Russian political class told me, Ukraine is the reddest of red lines - “Nyet means nyet.”

December 2021, in a last chance for peace, Joe Biden rejected Putin’s mutual security accords that would have left “neutral” Ukraine intact. Biden, who called Putin a murderous dictator, said “Russia doesn’t say who can join #NATO.” Russian security concerns once again were brushed aside.
