ShamefullyFF, FG, & all the Lowry independents (apart from Barry Heneghan) voted down our Bill to sanction Israel.
Government continues the approach of words without actions.
Just today they rightly criticised th brutal Israeli treatment of Irish participants in the flotilla.
The woman in this video is Caitriona Graham an Irish citizen.
This is how our citizens are being treated by Israel , having been abducted in international waters, trafficked to a third state and now experiencing humiliation, stress positions, aggression and violence.
The Zionist regime fired live ammunition at Irish activists before kidnapping them in International waters.
There’s a vote tomorrow re Sanctions against Israel.
TDs will be making career decisions.
Take note @fiannafailparty@FineGael
Yet another striking illustration of just how ideologically rigid the West has become compared to what we used to be.
This was the obituary The Economist published for Mao in 1976 - at the height of the Cold War.
Read this part:
"In the final reckoning Mao must be accepted as one of history's great achievers: for devising a peasant-centred revolutionary strategy which enabled China's Communist party to seize power, against Marx's prescriptions, from bases in the countryside; for directing the transformation of China from a feudal society wracked by war and bled by corruption, into a unified egalitarian state where nobody starves; and for reviving national pride and confidence so that China could, in Mao's words, 'stand up' among the great power."
Show this text to any Economist "journalists" today - without telling them it's from their own paper - and they'd reply: surely it's "CCP propaganda" 😏
Yes, incredible as it may sound, there used to be a time when Western journalists could assess a geopolitical rival honestly and respectfully without being accused of being a traitor. And this honesty was in no small part a key factor why the West won the Cold War.
Today we call honest assessment "propaganda," and we harass, smear, and blacklist people for it. And we're puzzled why the West is in steep decline.
Truth matters.
This new briefing from @WarOnWant exposes the Premier League's sportswashing of Israel's genocide and apartheid.
9 Premier League teams are directly sponsored by corporations enabling Israel’s crimes, while the league itself is sponsored by Barclays. (1/4)

Would have never expected https://t.co/HLww5rpPJe to make an actual decent philosophical point on the meaning of freedom in China (vs the vile Bill Maher...) but here we are 👇
Worth mentioning that the meaning of freedom also evolved quite dramatically in the West over the recent past. Now it overwhelmingly means individual freedom but it wasn't always the case.
If you re-listen, for instance, to Franklin D. Roosevelt's famous "Four Freedoms" speech, 2 of his 4 freedoms - which to him constituted the definition of "freedom" - were actually collective freedoms: namely freedom from fear and freedom from want.
How free are you really if you don't have security, if your streets are so unsafe you don't feel you can walk freely outside?
And how free are you really if you're poor in a society where doing anything costs money? You are technically free to do anything but, practically-speaking, you can't: you are in fact a slave of your material condition.
Same thing in France, hence our national motto: "Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité". Freedom/liberty was always meant to be balanced against collective interests: equality between people and fraternity towards your fellow citizens.
Or you could be speaking about literal personal freedom: can a country like the U.S., with by far the largest incarceration rates - the most people in cages - of any big country (350% higher than China, per capita: https://t.co/Lq5Ha651C2) be genuinely considered the "land of the free"?
Which is why Maher's points - that "freedom is freedom", that the U.S. "generally has more freedom than others" and that the Chinese are "too brainwashed" to understand freedom - are so painfully shallow and so ironic. They betray a man who has obviously never put a single thought into the concept, and chose to swallow his own country's official propaganda straight from the firehose.
https://t.co/HLww5rpPJe, on the other hand, went to China, looked at the facts beyond the caricature, and arrived at his own thoughtful conclusion. That's what freedom of mind actually looks like.
Andy Burnham voted for the Iraq War, an illegal war that killed over a million people.
As Health Secretary, he helped drive NHS privatisation.
He joined Labour Friends of Israel, opposed BDS as “spiteful”, praised Israel as a “democracy”, and called the Balfour Declaration “British values in action”. He is a Zionist.
Stop pretending he’s a radical alternative, he’s more of the same.
🇨🇳 Elon Musk is in China RIGHT NOW…
He should see this with his own eyes.
Imagine a Chinese “Cybertruck” that does almost everything technologically INSANE 🔥
Unlike Tesla’s Cybertruck that looks and performs like a 90’s Rover stranded in the Tunisia desert 😭
What China is doing in automotive is UNBELIEVABLE.
Technology has reached a level where competitors literally cannot catch up.
And the wildest part? Prices are affordable for everyone.
Game. Changed. Forever.
@elonmusk@Tesla Your move.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez:
“We received a letter today demanding that Lamine Yamal be suspended because he raised the Palestinian flag yesterday during the celebrations of FC Barcelona. I think this is something laughable — asking me to suspend a player simply for raising the Palestinian flag.
I believe FIFA should instead be contacted to prevent you from participating in football because of what you have been doing for more than three years: systematic killing and genocide carried out in the most horrific ways.
Lamine Yamal will be honored, and this flag will become an icon of celebrations in the streets of Spain from today onward.”
Xi Jinping is putting on a clinic:
“The whole world is watching our meeting. The International situation is turbulent. The world is at a new crossroads: Can China and the US overcome the Thucydides Trap and create a new paradigm to meet global challenges together.”
The Thucydides Trap is the structural tension that occurs when a rapidly rising power (China) threatens to displace an established ruling power that is in decline (US).
By mentioning the Thucydides trap, Xi Jinping is signaling that China is the new leader of the free world and what’s remarkable is, unlike the U.S., China achieved this without dropping bombs, waging endless wars, or spending $1 trillion a year on its military.
Instead China became the leader of the free world by investing in its people with housing, education, health care, and the best modern infrastructure in the world, and investing in its neighbor countries through its Belt and Road Initiative, which has funded ports, railways, and energy networks across the Global South.
The US became a “superpower” through endless wars, corruption, and selling out its own people to the billionaire class while China became a superpower and surpassed the US by building trade and relations with the world and investing in its people instead of wars. Americans would be wise to take note and then change our corrupt government.
What kind of world are we leaving behind? Unfortunately, it is a world distorted by war and war-like language. This pollution of reason comes from the geopolitical sphere and invades every social relationship. Any simplification that creates enemies must be corrected, especially in universities, through complexity of thought and wise exercise of memory.
The Orange Order has been marching through Catholic areas in an attempt to intimidate the nationalist community for literally centuries. And I've never heard a politician calling for the parades to be banned.

They could barely bring themselves to say her name and when they did used the dog whistle “Hezbollah aligned” in order to dehumanise Amal and justify her killing by I$rael.
Amal Khalil was a friend to me and many others having worked in the field since the 2006 war. What she did was unique, reporting from the south and raising the voices of the people there who are subjected to brutal treatment and attacks from I$rael.
Amal had herself received numerous death threats, some warning her to leave and if she didn’t her head would be removed from her shoulders. It’s a testament to her that she defied those threats and up until the end continued to expose I$raeli war comes.
She was a brave and courageous journalist, a daughter of the south and her mic and her pen was a tribune of the people. This is what made her so dangerous, with I$rael fearing a camera and a pen more than a Hezb0llah fighter.
Her body wasn’t “found under the rubble” as though it had been mysteriously placed there. I$rael targeted a car in front of her, when she sheltered in a building it was struck collapsing it, then the emergency operations were delayed for at least 7 hours as ambulances and civil defence workers were fired on.
This was a deliberate assassination and a war crime. But try as they might they will never stop journalists here from reporting the truth.
