@TomblackBlack Hi Tom. Increasing funding for healthcare in NI is appealing until in practice it means taking a bigger and bigger slice off the other public services like education, policing, transport and connectivity, arts, green spaces etc. Difficult balancing act.
It was an honour and privilege to deliver the @UlsterMedSoc Presidential Address last night. A big thank you to everyone who attended in person or online.
#StandupSpeakUpStepForward
My honour & pleasure to intro Dr Caren Walsh @CarenWalshQI the new @UlsterMedSoc President last night. An eloquent, funny, important & nourishing address.
We’re in safe hands, including with President-Elect Professor Patricia Campbell 👏🏼🥳

The @UlsterMedSoc Annual Dinner on Friday concluded this years evening lecture and social programme under our President @markvignesha ‘s custodianship. A great evening & the website will include details of the winner of the inaugural Sir William Whitla cup.
Thanks 🙏🏼 @sbteez for last night’s @UlsterMedSoc lecture: a lot to digest re focusing on the basics, humanising the healthcare ‘machine’ & how best to make resources (people and £) put to better use. Past presenters of the Robert Campbell oration include Sir Alexander Fleming💊👏🏼
On my way to Belfast (hopefully sunny??🤞🏼) via a moody Devon sky to host the excellent @sbteez for his @UlsterMedSoc talk this evening:
‘Realistic Medicine in an Unrealistic World’
Free tickets via the links in the thread. See you there…😀

Great evening of complementary but differently focused talks from @whatukthinks & @HughMcCaughey on the challenges & opportunities facing our health services. I had to stop the Qs late into the eve, such was the interest. All @UlsterMedSoc talks are archived on Ums website.
This season’s penultimate @UlsterMedSoc evening @ Belfast City hospital…
A mouthwatering double act!
John is taking us on an analytical journey of the public’s attitudes to the health service, followed by Hugh drawing on his huge leadership experience to inform his reflections
