@SorcererLazaro@GrahamSmyth@LeeSobotYEP Sunderland had a weird advantage on PSR this season due to not really spending in EFL, so could also bypass the punitive "promoted clubs" limits. The SCR limit should even it out a bit in our favour IMO
Am on a @SW_Help train back from London and am as usual surrounded by people loudly discussing how they didn't have to buy a ticket. But not loudly enough to wake the guard who is gently snoozing at the back of the carriage.
@British_Airways Thanks. Would have replied earlier but here's what I've had on your pay-to-play wifi for the last 25 mins or so. By the way - "stream"? Lol.
on @British_Airways flight, trying to use their free executive club wifi. Requires login, try web and requires completing a captcha which doesn't display on phone. If you try app it locks you out and sends an email to unlock - which requires non-free wifi ๐
@hugorifkind@PaulConnolly10 tbf nobody's ever started a barbecue near me in a pub garden. But I'd be up for banning people talking into mobile phones with the speaker on. And strangers trying to start conversations (Southern England only).
@arrroberts First time I read this (and only time I intend to) I was a bit disappointed that Lord Daha's battlecry wasn't "Take on me". This thought kept me going through the first 400 or so pages, I powered through the rest by force of sheer bloody mindedness
@jonsmith_lufc@GREATBr69197702@MLufc02 Not that i know anything on the specifics of this deal but typically these clauses demand all the money come up front whereas the buyer prefers to stage payments. So there is leverage.
@thomashurst They were saying 3 before the departures (Anthony replacement, Roberts replacement, number 10). So not sure how that came to be 4 given Kamara/Rutter/Gray/Summerville also now gone and only Bogle fits that list. But it's just spin anyhow.
@twlldun As I remember in Star Wars the resistance exists because an autocrat has grabbed power with the help of a self-interested corporate cabal. In the prequels the heroes are the authority figures and you're meant to side with them. And the resistance leader is a princess.
This is a very unusual tagging of me where it actually intends to refer to me, not to top entertainer Mark Watson currently appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe (tickets available). Thanks to @glawton of @diginomica for a very enjoyable chat about engineering productivity and AI.
How can we improve developer productivity? @glawton speaks to @ComplyAdvantage CTO @markwatson, who shares best practices, and how they shape his thinking about new AI-powered development tools. https://t.co/pkLL4GcZk1
Many people have been (rightly) worried for a long time about monolithic dependencies on monolithic tech providers. If you want a great perspective on/extrapolation of it go read @doctorow's brilliant short story, "Unauthorized Bread" from his book Radicalized
Looking at the news today (or trying to: in many cases it's down) I'm reminded of a panel I was on many years ago with Bill Coleman (the B in BEA) who said re Microsoft: "never trust a vendor you wouldn't trust to run your pacemaker. four words: blue face of death"
