Have just finished watching Breathtaking on ITV which wasn’t fun.
If the UK had cared what we were seeing in Italy and locked down just 10 days earlier, it will have saved countless lives and staved off the crisis we now see in the economy, young people’s education and mental health. Political advisors should not have been in the room where decisions were being made, nor should politicians be allowed to cut resources and neglect pandemic planning in normal times. Journalists should have been allowed to report in hospitals all the way through to prevent the avalanch of unnecessary infections born out of frustration, selfishness and delusion hyper-fuelled by the unqualified on social media.
The reason we didn’t have any of these things is the same reason we ended up with Brexit, and the same reason this country became the second most miserable place on the planet to raise a family. Our first-past-the-post democratic system has been honed, and our civil service and “media” infiltrated, to manipulate poor frustrated idiots to vote the financially motivated aristocratic ‘class’ into power. They felt no moral conscience in rationing NHS resources so that people admitted to hospital with quite treatable issues would never leave through the exit. This happened on the scale of many, many thousands in 2020 alone, including 850 staff, and when desperate staff tried to go directly to the media about the impossible lack of resources to save people they were threatened by higher ups to stay quiet, who encouraged their baying mob of conspiracists to set upon them.
So I put it to you that Boris Johnson wasn’t just a poor man doing the best he could under difficult circumstances, but rather he was just another chancer who fancied being the face of a secretive system which does not respect the office of Prime Minister and a long time ago stopped serving or protecting the people of the United Kingdom. For all of the reasons outlined, and after looking into the pros and cons for years, we must fight to join nearly every other democracy in the world by implementing Proportional Representation in our elections.
Anything has to be better than this First-Past-The-Post stitch up.
Imagine getting the news, like a family did last week, that your 5 year old child has a brain tumour and that he has one year to live. And then life is going on as normal around you with people choosing to threaten each other over a red and purple take on a flag.
You’re just doing that thing where you feel protective of him so I must be a nasty horrible person. Let’s debate this respectfully yeah? Big Brother has never been afraid of airing any topic, in fact I suspect that’s why they made the podcast question about forced conscription AND had the wizard of oz task inviting him to show courage. I’m not saying that war is easy, and I’m not saying I don’t feel for him, but there are boys dying right now in Ukraine because all able bodied men are forced to fight. Why should they lay down their life but he doesn’t have to? Furthermore, if you are okay with him being special and evading conscription because he promised to use his platform to do “everything I can” (and that’s a big if) then why was the entire big brother experience and pay check not an included in that? Not in his intro, not while he was in there, and not in his exit interview. Because there would arguably be no better opportunity than prime time tv. So put your fan feelings on him aside for the sake of debate, and actually answer those two questions please.
To be fair, we need to take back the St George flag from the chav football hooligans and beer bellied brextards. It’s been a long time coming… and please stop acting like there isn’t already a million style takes out there for every flag going 😂 #nike#EnglandFlag
@sincere_sparks His words not mine. “I wanted to go and fight but my family convinced me to use my platform to do everything I can to help my country.”
Apart from that one forced conversation in the podcast, he didn’t mention Ukraine at all and kept the fee for himself.
One word. Sellout.
Watch the Moscow concert bombing carefully. This could be Putin’s version of Hitler’s Reichstag fire, and a pretext for using nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
Aaahh they’ve sold out of the New England training shirt 😂 can’t wait to take back control of my country’s flag from the brextards #allpublicityisgood@Nike@England
See i want Fern to win because she needs to replace Cat Deeley on This Morning. But my heart thinks Colson has been the most genuine and deserves the boost #CBBUK
Zeze should be there instead of Bradley who has sweetly coasted his way through.
Nikita’s ‘courage’ paid off but unless his fee is going to Ukraine or he makes some kind of statement it feels like his participation in CBB is about his own fame and fortune, and nothing to do with “helping Ukraine as much as possible from [his] position.”
Fern I’ve always felt deserves a TV comeback but I think the years of bitterness have inevitably affected how she comes across, maybe even to the point of overthinking this game. Smiling but not smiling, she made the cardinal sin of being too obvious in fabricating a situation to sway tonight’s public vote.
David can be funny but he went into
the house so set on being an entertainer that breaking out of the caricature became almost impossible. I’m sure there’s a whole other side yet when he does pop up it’s usually a well choreographed moment to endear himself to the public.
Louis surprised me by losing me near the beginning but then gaining my respect. I really wanted to not like him and imagined some pervy or racism scandal would see him cancelled, but actually, the guy seems to have become the rarest of creatures… Authentic, warts and all, and you feel on a 3D level he’s an alright bloke.
I think I’ll always choose the person who prioritises being present and understanding to their fellow housemates, over using their HMs to play the game. Nobody managed that liked Colson. That boy, while not naive to the game, is throwing himself into every part of the experience and he’s the one person I would love to friends with.

@castatham96@abbiglover@EmilyJBashforth Again seems like a massive stretch. This attitude of looking for ifs, buts, maybes, problems and prejudice only serves to perpetuate a culture of victimhood and walking on egg shells. We’ve ended up losing everyone’s respect for real issues as it’s all just dismissed as ‘woke’
@fcdeintou As a housemate, I’ve said that I felt she was creating situations for drama. If that counts as “bad words” then I’m afraid I don’t feel ashamed. However as a person I hope she is genuinely okay — but even this is made suspicious becuar of her record for creating drama.
@abbiglover@EmilyJBashforth No, but in the context of a show where housemates are opening up to each other I go back to my original point. It’s probably safe to assume he doesn’t have a disability. Your theory that we should assume everyone is disabled is a bit over the top when it comes to reality.
