So I'm a football coach, but what do I do?
I give up my time every week to ensure your child has somewhere to go and play football,
I create an 'atmosphere', a second 'family' where your child can feel safe and have a sense of belonging,
I instill values, behaviours, beliefs, based on both mine and the Club's philosophies, which will help your child become not just a better footballer but a better person,
I teach important life skills through each and every training session, drill, or game,
I set the standard of the team/club, by being the first one there (an hour early) to set up, and the last one to leave (an hour later) tidying everything away,
I message you to confirm attendance at training sessions and matches on a Monday - and again on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and again on Saturday,
I spend countless hours of my days 'chasing' parents/player's, for subs, paperwork, kit, etc...
I put together training plans, team selections, kit order's, team social gatherings, sponsored events, money making activities all for the benefit of each child in that team,
I begin planning the team for the weekend's match the moment training finishes, and the very second the match finishes I am planning for the next training session,
I record the scorers, submit the results, file the paperwork,
I am a teacher, a doctor, a counsellor, a role model, a 'big brother', an influencer, and so much more - and that's just for you and your child,
I do ALL of the above every week, unpaid, whilst working awkward hours in a full time job, aswell as being a Dad, a Husband, a carer,
I don't do this for thanks, I do this because I love football, because I love seeing player's grow each week - that's the reward, the thanks for me,
I am a Grassroots Football Coach, but I am so much more ❤🖤⚽️

Thanks to Chelmsford U13 EJA for the friendly today …..really close game and nothing between the two sides . Game was played in good spirits and highly competitive. Good luck for your remaining couple of games #Rams
As the season starts drawing towards a conclusion, as the rollercoaster of ups and downs, wins and losses, laughs and tears that come with our beautiful game.
It made me sit for a second and remember the last few years and be grateful for where we are now, what we have now and it made me count my blessings.
To be coming towards the end of a season we could name “normal” I am eternally thankful. The memories of "Covid" seasons, isolated training, disinfecting the ball and the goalposts, drawing up risk assessments and recruiting Covid officers, tier systems and travel restrictions, coaches and subs wearing masks on sidelines, thermometer guns, receiving texts on a Friday night of losing half the team from the same class, not being able to share bibs or balls, knowing in some cases despite the hardships it was the only place your players may feel normal, all this and more, the lockdowns and disruption still etched firmly in my mind.
Now I take in every second like it’s my last, enjoy training as much as games, its made me fall in love all over again with our beautiful game.
We all missed it so much when it was gone so today I reflect and remember how important it is for all of our physical and mental well being and how thankful we have our "normal" beautiful game back.

What an excellent side @WestHam have become. Good in all areas and David Moyes deserves enormous credit for getting them in this position. Many good performances with @_DeclanRice magnificent again, and he’s still only 22. 👏🏻👏🏻
Wow 8 years ago today these special girls became the first girls team at @writtleminors@writtleladiesfc@EssexCountyFA and the 1st Girls team in Essex to Win the Futsal Nationals Finals hosted in Birmingham.......super proud moment in my coaching journey...No. 1 team in the UK
Youth Sport Myths:
▪️Winning games= good development
▪️Smiles, laughs & chatter= poor discipline & not serious
▪️Playing games with no isolated running= unfit players
▪️Noisy coaches= best coaches
▪️Tidy sessions with no mistakes= best sessions
This narrative needs addressed!🤔
How often do you get a Premier league manager turning up on a Monday night out of season, to take a U11's training session.
This is one of the reasons why this man will be classed as a Leeds Legend.
