“The NSLS has provided me with the opportunity to become a leader in order to improve my public speaking. I joined the NSLS with the hope to overcome this obstacle, and while I am still on that bumpy (1/3)
road, there is a huge difference in who I am now versus who I used to be. Before, I used to freeze whenever I had to speak in class for a project. However, even though I still get scared sometimes, now, I'm more willing to and will even volunteer to present to my class. (2/3)
When asked what advice would you give someone who wanted to lead but just doesn’t know how, she responded, “If someone wanted to lead but didn't know how to I'd say to just jump in. If you can choose a leadership position where someone would be able to mentor you or you (1/3)
would at least be able to watch other leaders then you'll be fine. When I first joined the Exec Board, I didn't know anything about effective leadership, but now I'm a lot more confident in my skills. (2/3)

“The biggest influence NSLS has had on my life is getting me to meet and collaborate with others and overall being more vocal. For as long as I can remember, (1/3)
I’ve always been super shy and quiet and never made a ton of friends, but after joining NSLS and becoming an executive board member I’ve started to come out of shell and make new friends and speak way more than I use to. Overall I think NSLS has really helped me with (2/3)
and hold 3 chair positions in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Without NSLS I would not have the confidence I have in myself now and would have never met such amazing people on my journey. I'm forever grateful for all I have gained through this organization.”
When asked how has the NSLS impacted her life, she responded, “NSLS has impacted my life tremendously. Before I joined NSLS my presence on campus was virtually unknown. I was insecure and flew under the radar comfortably. NSLS gave me the tools needed to become a great (1/3)
Leader but it also increased my confidence. The more events I attended the more personal growth I saw. Now in addition to be an executive member of NSLS, I am also a member of the Latino Student Alliance, Phenomenal Women, (2/3)
And help others learn how to lead just like me. Honestly the responsibility of being president, delegating tasks, and convincing people that this is a legitimate organization that is worth the time and money, is what really helped me love my position and love being in the NSLS.”
When asked What NSLS has done for her, she replied, “This organization taught me how to lead. I already knew HOW to lead, but this org taught me how to lead in a way where I can be love AND respected, instead of ruling with an iron fist. I can be humble about my qualities (1/2)
