Coal prices have risen internationally but Ukraine had nothing to do with #energy prices rising in Australia. Investment in #solar and #wind is to blame.

It is important that the government in this country start facing reality and stop hiding the problem.

The #Ukraine has nothing to do with #coal prices in this country. In fact, Australian coal prices did not rise at all under their existing long term contracts for our #coal-fired power stations.

The government must stop misleading parliament that rising electricity prices in Australia are due to a war in the Ukraine.

Massive solar and wind #subsidies are the cause of Australians suffering some of the highest #electricity prices in the world. Every time a coal fired power station is shut in this country we see yet the another spike in our power bills because unreliable #renewables cannot provide the same inexpensive baseload power supply.

This government's Safeguard Mechanism Bill will add even more fines to reliable coal-fired power and yet more pain for Australian households.

Today Labor and the Greens voted against holding a Royal Commission into the government handling of Covid-19.

This is despite Albanese saying he would hold a Royal Commission and Senator Gallagher saying an inquiry should be held.

When the Coalition was in power there was an ongoing Senate inquiry into Covid that Labor pushed for, yet now they are in power they don’t want to analyse the government overreach.

This just proves that Labor were more than happy to weaponise Covid to gain power and didn’t actually care about the people.

SMASHING FAMILIES PAYING OFF THEIR HOME WON‘T CHANGE ENERGY PRICES OR FIX INFLATION

Australia is experiencing steepest and largest monetary tightening our nation’s history and the pain being inflicted on Australian mortgage borrowers is unrivaled in the world.

Although the RBA has hiked interest rates less than other English-speaking central banks because the vast majority of Australians have variable-rate mortgages, the rise in average mortgage rates in Australia has been substantially greater.

This policy is madness. It discriminates against middle-class families trying to pay off their homes.

Although it might reduced price increases of established homes (being artificially pumped up by record levels of migration) it has little effect on inflation; on the price of energy, or the price food.

While mortgage holders are smashed (having less disposable cash) that effect is counterbalanced by those with deposits having more cash.

Further, interest rates rises increase the cost of borrowing businesses - so by increasing costs for businesses just throws more fuel onto the inflationary fire.

And when it comes to energy price inflation - how much financial hardship do you need to inflict so that families can no longer afford to heat their homes, to reduce demand for electricity to hopefully reduce electricity prices.

And the Reserve Bank’s playing with interest rates is NOT the workings of the free market as some mistakenly think.

Its actually government interference in the market -where the Government has simply contracted out that interference (interest rate manipulation) to the Reserve Bank - which is a creation of government.

Smashing mortgage holders to "fight inflation" is a policy that is no longer fit for purpose.

There are many other ways a government can fight inflation in a more equitable manner. Starting with winding back the record levels of migration, and ending the madness of Net Zero which only continues to push energy prices & food prices higher.

That’s why at the last election the UNITED AUSTRALIA PARTY proposed a different way of doing things, and caping EXISTING mortgages on family homes for 5 years.

As more and more Australian families suffer the pain & financial hardship of losing their homes, maybe those that mocked our policy (without understanding it) will wake-up and realises that the UAP’s were right again.
