This week, I wanted to focus on my learner's accomplishments and any final questions or lessons he would like to look at. We ended up discussing different platforms to video chat (Skype, Zoom, Facetime) so he can connect with relatives this holiday! #LetsTeachAdults@YEPeducation
@rachkim_YEP@YEPeducation This is a great way to show the endless possibilities that technology can offer us! I like how your learner is excited to do a step challenge with her family, it really shows her level of engagement and her ability to apply knowledge. Is she reporting back to you with the winner?
@EmilyGaraci@YEPeducation This would be a fun lesson to end the program with! Many technological skills that your grandma has learned over the past few weeks will be useful on the Instagram app. For example, selfie taking.😉 Good idea, Emily!
@MsCCapogna@YEPeducation I think providing a review lesson is beneficial for your learner to remind him of his accomplishments, as well as giving the opportunity for any questions that have came up. Online shopping is a great final lesson. Has he ever online shopped before? Or was this his first time?
@megan_baruch@YEPeducation I think it's important for students to know that there is multiple ways to get to the same endpoint, especially when it comes to technology. Teaching my learner how to send emails was one of the more challenging tasks. How did your learner find the app compared to the computer?
@DeannaYEP@YEPeducation That is a great skill to have Deanna, awesome idea! I wish I started putting my photos in folders earlier, instead of having all my photos together. Glad to hear you are continuing your lessons in the future. Good luck! 😀
@mshopkinsPJ @YEPeducation Awesome job, Lindsey! What an accomplishment for both you and your learner. I love how you incorporated a KWL chart into your final lesson, reflecting on your past sessions. Does your learner plan on developing her skills further with the iPad?
My learner asked if there was a way he could watch Netflix on his TV. I showed him how to connect a HDMI cord from his laptop to the TV to elicit the mirroring technique. He found this to be very practical for Netflix & streaming sports! 📺 #LetsTeachAdults@YEPeducation
@NaomiAngEd@YEPeducation Your lessons are always so interesting, Naomi. I'm curious to know what your learner thought about the short and quick conversations compared to longer ones?
@EmilyGaraci@YEPeducation I like how you incorporated a task for her, almost like a scavenger hunt. I'm sure she found this lesson to be interactive and fun! Looks like she caught on fast!😀
@DeannaYEP@YEPeducation Excellent lesson plan Deanna! I also taught my student how to use bookmarks and he finds it very helpful. I'm curious to know how your learner found it? My learner had no idea bookmarks were even a thing!
@MsF_loves2learn @YEPeducation I like how you centered your final lesson as a wrap up to conclude your time together, Silvia. It's a good way to show your student you appreciate her time and all she has accomplished. How do you feel after completing your last lesson?
@megan_baruch@YEPeducation Good idea Megan! Looking back on your previous lessons, was your learner able to recall how to download apps onto her smartphone or did she use her cheatsheet you created for her?
@rachkim_YEP@YEPeducation Thank you but yes, that’s the plan. I thought I would use this opportunity to see if he had any other specific requests I can implement into my remaining lessons.
To finish off this weeks lesson, my learner filled out a Self-Evaluation Survey to reflect on the past seven weeks. I asked questions regarding his knowledge & understanding, responsibility, application and his opinion of his independence level.📊✅ #LetsTeachAdults@YEPeducation
@SamanthaBanche3@YEPeducation These questions will give you a great understanding of where your student is at with his lessons. I think the question "do you feel like you are able to gain more skills with each lesson?" will specifically show you his application level. Great survey, Samantha!
@mrshariz@YEPeducation Excellent lesson idea! I'm thinking of teaching my learner this technique as well. How did you approach this lesson? Any advice?
@TutorYep@YEPeducation I like how you incorporated a feedback option, as the tutor, to know if there is anything else you can do to help your learner reach their goals. Did you teach your learner exercise this week?
@NaomiAngEd@YEPeducation By allowing your learner to respond to the questions verbally, shows not only your leaner's confidence but your learner's application level as well. How did your learner do with this task?
