@RizWanKenobi_@SlaterTony@Maoskyist Yes, there are allowable expenses for things like repairs and maintenance. I ran out of characters on my previous message, and I was more just setting out where the £143 figure had come from.
@SlaterTony@Maoskyist No bother! Up until April 2020, landlords could set off their mortgage payments against income, so her tax would look more like the amount you mentioned. Buy to lets are a lot less lucrative now!
@SlaterTony@Maoskyist FYI, the tax she will pay is £143, not what she'll pay tax on. All rental income is treated as income for tax purposes (except for the £1k allowance). Therefore £800 rent x 12 = 9600 p/a LESS £1k allowance = £8600 taxable p/a x 20% = £1720 tax p/a / 12 = £143.33 tax per month.
@Lord_Talbot64 Did you watch the interview?
Peter Cardwell: "Sir Keir Starmer was in Staffordshire, in someone's home actually..."
Keir Starmer: "We're in Nicola's kitchen here..."
TalkTV is right leaning. Do you really think they'd go along with a staged propaganda piece for Labour?
@willchamberlain@jonfavs@marcorubio@JDVance@elonmusk In a similar vein, I could provide this from the application for injunctive relief, which states Abrego Garcia has never been charged, never been convicted, and has no criminal history. If that is true, surely you can see why people are bothered by what has happened?
@willchamberlain@jonfavs@marcorubio@JDVance@elonmusk The concern is that your screenshot is cropped from the witness statement of a Field Office Director at ICE, trying to justify their actions. His statement also admits they shouldn't have deported him. The highlighted text is not actually any kind of judgment of the court.
@louisemegant It was introduced in the late 1600s when we were at war with France, as a means to raise funds to maintain war efforts. Then, successive governments just retained it as a means to keep taking more money off people. It has no other purpose.
@IRAS054372502@iamyesyouareno@elonmusk Also, the longest sentence ever given to a person his age. The judge voiced that it is likely he'll spend the rest is his life in prison.
@IRAS054372502@iamyesyouareno@elonmusk More so, it's a life sentence with a minimum term of 52 years; i.e. he won't be eligible for parole for at least 52 years. The only reason he didn't get a WLO is because, as a matter of law, a judge can't impose a WLO on anyone who was a minor when the crime was committed.
@chhagendersingh@Tolcarne57@nazirafzal What time has passed? @Tolcarne57 had queried if Akhmed Yakoob was qualified to act in the capacity of solicitor in the UK. The answer to that is yes; he remains on the roll of solicitors. Whether or not you believe him suitable for the job is an entirely different point.
@PlanetRhi You're doing pretty damn great all things considered, and you should be proud of yourself for that. I'm in my 30s now and being 27 on citalopram feels like a whole lifetime ago. I suppose it is. It does and will get better. I really believe that and hope you find your happiness.
@PlanetRhi I think the modern day 30s are basically the boomer 20s, so try to be kind to yourself; happiness isn't a linear path, and the UK is basically a dystopian mess. You've experienced two "once in a lifetime" recessions and a global pandemic. But you're still here in spite of that.
