20 years ago today, both Hannah Montana and Taylor Swift released their debut albums. We were introduced to two iconic blonde stars and the world would never be the same.

🚨 20 years ago, Taylor Swift released her self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift, better known as Debut.

The album marked her entry into the music industry following the release of “Tim McGraw” and the beginning of a legendary career filled with iconic albums that have changed and saved lives.

When it comes to numbers, the album debuted with 40K units, a number Taylor later mentioned in a thank-you post after breaking the record for the biggest sales week for an album in Billboard 200 history, with over 4 million units sold!

The album also gave us songs like “Our Song” and “Picture to Burn”, which became even more popular during the Eras Tour despite not being on the setlist, alongside other tracks that showcase Taylor’s honesty and emotional depth as a songwriter.

Thanks to the success of her debut album, Taylor received a Best New Artist nomination at the Grammys, where she ultimately lost to Amy Winehouse as well as several awards in the country music scene!

And this right here is exactly why pop stars are going extinct. Y’all root for these girls when they’re coming up, but the second they break into the mainstream and start seeing real success, y’all switch up and start finding any little reason to tear them down.
