Teachers and students are REQUIRED to be more flexible during this time. Uploading a worksheet is not instruction they are used to and not what you should be doing. You need to still provide instruction/directions for students to succeed, but also be mindful of workload #EDUC331
I'm not sure my definition of equity changed, but rather heightened. During times like these, we as teachers, parents and students aren't seeing how people are affected. This isn't just "who has internet and who doesn't", this is who is being represented and who is not. #EDUC331
@CRPE_UW is an excellent resource for staying updated on current research about effective changes in public school, both #COVID19 related and not. Check them out to learn more about the movement to online learning :) #educ331 https://t.co/TIksAzA4MX
"We are not just now talking about equity, we have been talking about equity, but I know that we are all now listening" @NicolRHoward@DigEquityPLN#educ331
@k_shelton reminds us that parents and teachers are more responsible than ever for modelling digital citizenship. Online learning does not remove FERPA and COPPA protections for students, so teachers need to be sharing appropriate resources and valuing student privacy. #educ331
@weskriesel mentioned during the @DigEquityPLN webinar the shifting mentality from "we cannot provide hotspots to students" to "we have provided hotspots to students", showing that we can create equitable access when we change our thinking about what can be done. #educ331
It is easy for schools to move online in theory, but @michaelmflood reminds us that not all students have adequate access to internet services, especially with local closures. Teachers must be aware of student accessibility and modify. #educ331
@DigEquityPLN 's webinar on Why Equity Matter Now! focuses not just on putting devices in kids hands. How do we ensure students have equal opportunities when working in isolation? Equity is a multifaceted word. #educ331
Listening to @winey02 trip to Liberia makes me think of Abi Dare's book 'The Girl with the Louding Voice'. Education is so important, why can't everyone have equal access to it? #educ331
