@jbullockruns Dr. Bullock, thank you so much for sharing from your very personal experiences. You are brave and generous. And respected and appreciated.

#SPSM We need to understand that grief is love & grief is forever & we can thrive while living with grief, even grief from suicide. We need to talk about grief & about suicide. My favorite book on grief is: Megan Devine's It's OK That You're Not OK. https://t.co/JFKmPPB1PK
#SPSM Long ago in SLTB, Shneidman said 90% of people who die by suicide show warning signs AND 90% of people who show warning signs do NOT die by suicide. (I can find article later :-))
#SPSM Many have 2 or more types of exper w suicide! Red 4 those who died by suicide; Purple 4 living w suicide grief; Blue 4 liv'g w suicide thots, selfharm, attempts; Yellow 4 family-friends support'g suicidal loved ones; White 4 work'g (vol or paid) support'g suicidal ppl.
#SPSM Peter Wollheim was long-time voice of suicide prevention in Idaho, AAS member, beautiful-in-all-the-ways person who died by suicide in 2015 https://t.co/ajhTqjXLGY

#SPSM folks: I'm sad & glad for our topic. Let's talk about how we ARE affected by suicide deaths, even when we know a lot about grief & about suicide grief. If I wasn't affected, I wouldn't be able to do good work with people. Grief is about love. Listening is too.

@MichaelPaulson Many thanks to you @MichaelPaulson of @nytimes for your sensitivity about suicide, including your reminders to readers that #suicide is not from 1 cause, & is not inevitable.
PS I'm a member of @AASuicidology & extend thnx on behalf of my community.

@SPSMChat@BartAndrews I respect the experience & expertise of #SPSM leaders @adwww@DocForeman @chrsmxwll @BartAndrews yet I think tonight's format isn't the best SPSM Chat. It does not encourage much interaction. My "vote" is to let this format be maybe once a quarter, not the regular.

@ajcan36 This is what I'm hearing, too! ECT may work for some, but we have no treatment ECT or any med regime that works for all to reduce suicidality

Small sample: People in my SOSA support groups over the past 2-1/2 years who have had ECT do not recommend it, because of the memory gaps, and their depression, suicidality continues. Med's aren't perfect either. But let's not say ECT "really works" for everyone
