In April 1992, Mexican photographer Óscar Arredondo Ramírez presented a series of photographs that allegedly depicted an extraterrestrial humanoid inside the volcanic crater of La Alberca, near Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato, Mexico. The mysterious figure subsequently became known as the “Humanoid of Valle de Santiago” or “El Marcianito de La Alberca.” At the time, Arredondo operated a photography business called Fotografía México on Calle Juárez in Valle de Santiago. His photographs first received significant public attention when they appeared in the Mexican publication ¡Cuestión Policiaca!, issue No. 104, dated October 20–26, 1992, beneath the headline “¡Fotografían un extraterrestre!” Additional reports concerning the alleged encounter and photographs continued to appear throughout November and December of that year. Although some later reproductions of the story have dated the incident to December 1991, the earliest detailed published account identifies April 1992 as the date of the alleged encounter
