It has been a great honor to serve the Ukrainian people as the Minister of Defense.

Here is what our team managed to achieve:

1. Disabled Starlink access for Russian forces.

2. Took over a Ministry of Defense with zero budget, took a risk, reallocated funds from payroll from the end of the year, and effectively invested them in mid-strike capabilities, fiber-optic FPVs, low-cost reconnaissance, ground robotic platforms, interceptor drones, and deep-strike drones.

3. Launched "Logistical Lockdown", this cut off enemy logistics and initiated the isolation of Crimea.

4. Continued the funding program for the Drone Line.

5. Launched a support program for modern drone-assault units that rely primarily on advanced technologies in combat.

6. Introduced a 70% advance payment policy for procurements made via e-Points on the Brave1 Market portal.

7. Fundamentally overhauled the procurement system.

8. Procured thousands of pickup trucks, buggies, and ATVs for the military for the first time—and did so through open tenders.

9. The drone interception rate rose from 83% to 91%, and the cruise missile interception rate soared from 47% to 87%.

10. Contracted Patriot PAC-2 GEM-T missiles for the first time, and submitted an application through an EU loan to purchase PAC-3 missiles.

11. Launched a baseline drone supply system for brigades and corps.

12. Launched a massive grant program for manufacturers of explosives and missiles.

13. Initiated an unpopular but vital transformation of the military.

14. Conducted three UDCG meetings, where we successfully broke through the Russian information trap claiming our defeat, restoring partners' faith in Ukraine. This secured $40 billion in support announced for this year (excluding the EU loan).

15. Launched the mechanism to utilize the EU loan for our military priorities.

16. Found a way to scale cheap missiles against jet-powered Shaheds and signed a record-breaking contract.

17. Our domestic ballistics. We radically revised the technical specifications, maximized accuracy, and reduced the cost by 30%.

18. Signed a contract to procure Gripen fighter jets.

19. Collaborated with the military to plan and execute Operation Auchan, which halted the enemy's mechanized offensive for six months.

20. Opened up exports under the Drone Deal program to attract investment and scale up domestic defense-industrial complex (OPK) production.

21. Launched the Trophy Lab, providing partners with the opportunity to study captured Russian military technologies.

22. Launched the Defense AI Center A1 to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence on the battlefield.

The IOC’s decision is disgraceful, but let’s not pretend this happened in a vacuum. For years, countless so-called “neutral” Russian athletes have continued living in Russia, paying taxes there, representing Russian institutions, and helping sustain the very state waging a genocidal war against Ukraine.

Saying “I don’t support the war” is not some extraordinary moral achievement. That’s the bare minimum for any decent human being. It’s like saying, “I don’t support murdering civilians.” That shouldn’t earn praise, it should be the default.

When someone claims to oppose the war while continuing to live under the regime, pay into its budget, compete for its prestige, and avoid taking any meaningful personal risk, it’s fair to question how much that opposition actually costs them.

And after everything Russia has done to Ukraine, the IOC rewarding Russia’s return to international sport sends a devastating message.

The IOC leadership is hitting yet another new low with its actions.
The current IOC leadership increasingly looks like yet another Russian asset that is simply working for Russian propaganda.

A huge number of Russian sports federations continue to operate in the occupied territories, and the IOC completely ignores this.

I hope that the NOCs of other countries will not tolerate this arbitrariness and will finally show a strong stance against these shameful decisions.

Meet Kirsty Coventry, the current President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Today on Tue Jul 7, under her leadership, the IOC lifted its ban on Russian athletes participating in the Olympic Games - a ban that had been in place since 2023 following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This means Russian athletes will face no obstacles to competing at the 2028 Olympic Games. Commenting on the decision, Coventry said: “We don’t want to hold athletes accountable for the actions of their government.”

The decision comes after a series of heavy Russian attacks on Kyiv and across Ukraine, deliberately targeting civilians and destroying sports facilities.

Earlier, on February 12, 2026, it was Coventry who decided to disqualify Ukrainian skeleton racer Vladyslav Heraskevych from Olympic competition over his “Helmet of Remembrance,” which honored Ukrainian athletes killed as a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Before that, she served as the Minister of Sport under the dictatorship of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe. Mugabe famously called her his “Golden Girl” following her Olympic gold medal victories in 2004 and 2008.

He also awarded her a diplomatic passport and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash rewards.

Last night, our Ukrainian long-range sanctions against Russia over this war reached targets near St. Petersburg. Ukraine's Defense Forces struck port oil infrastructure that generates revenue for Russia's war, and there were also successful strikes on Kronstadt – an important military target. On U.S. Independence Day, I want to honor Americans who are true freedom fighters and beacons of democracy - not only in the United States, but around the world.

Jennifer Baglivi reads a letter from her son, Alexander William Banas (April 18, 1999 – May 29, 2025), a U.S. Marine who overcame cancer and later joined Ukraine’s International Legion’s 3rd Separate Special Purpose Battalion. His commander told his mother, “Your son is a legend.” Alex fought for Ukraine and was killed by Russians at the age of 26.

Jennifer Baglivi, of New Bern, North Carolina, is an active-duty Marine and a mental health therapist. She is the mother of four children: Alex, Carolyn, Grace, and Chris. Alex, her oldest, was born when Jennifer was very young.

Alex served in the Marines for four years before being diagnosed with cancer. By the time he received an honorable medical discharge, russia had launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Alex defeated cancer and chose to fight for Ukraine.

On May 29, 2025, Alex Banas Baglivi was killed during a mission near Kupiansk alongside two other members of his five-man team.

Democracy is not something given; it is something we always need to fight for. And autocracy is like a disease - like cancer: if you are not fighting it in one place, it will spread to other places. That is why Americans who are fighting in Ukraine are, first and foremost, fighting for their own homeland. And I respect that more than anything.

And those Americans who are helping in any other way to support Ukraine’s fight for democracy should know that this is one of their greatest acts of patriotism today. The same was true during World War II.

REMINDER: There is only one way to end this war - Russia surrendering, fully withdrawing from Ukraine, and paying reparations for generations to come.

Everyone responsible for torture, killings, rape, and the abduction of children should be brought to trial and face either life imprisonment or the death penalty.

As a dangerous actor on the international stage, the Kremlin should also give up its nuclear capabilities.

And after all the harm Russia has caused, it should lose its seat on the UN Security Council and be removed from all the international organizations where it still holds membership.
