You guys keep saying that it’s not standards built on whiteness but then you guys keep talking about respectability and being perceived. So which one is it?
The fact that yall don’t understand white people DO make the standard of professionalism is telling.
Professionalism is predicated on your proximity to whiteness. The further you are from whiteness the more ‘unprofessional’ you are deemed. That’s why locs were hated for so long
You follow the road of respectability and professionalism, it’ll always lead you back to white people. So I’ll never agree with policing the way black people present themselves to the world. Cause who are we performing for?
“Who wanna buy me lunch?”
“Who wanna pay for my haircut?”
“Who wanna get my nails done?”
I don’t know… asking strangers to fund your regular expenses has always been a little cringy to me. 😂
I don’t think it’s cute to date a man that’s obsessive over me (anymore) get a life. I don’t need nobody that’s gonna come snatch me out of no club or nothing, unhand me! I’m not about to sit on the phone all day(a literal day) with you.
