A call to @BorisJohnson, to issue emergency visas for veterinary staff from @Nowzad - the team have supported British troops and have been advocates for animal welfare for many years. This puts them in great danger. @PenFarthing, founder of #Nowzad needs to get them to the UK.
Just arrived at an air bnb with 2 friends, there's a bottle of prosecco under the sink.... did they forget to leave it out for us or is this wishful thinking?
Today I learnt that in days before artificial light was everywhere always, people had a 'first sleep' or 'dead sleep' and a 'second sleep'. They woke up after a few hours and had a chat, did a bit of work, smoked, had sex, or just chilled out in bed thinking..
The problem with the gvts approach to this issue imo is that policy makers arn't recognising that history *is* narrative. There is no historical truth that heritage organisations are responsible for protecting, we just need room for more people's stories.

Today is the release of Katherine Pangonis' debut book - Queens of Jerusalem. I worked on this as Kate's research assistant so I know it's full of fascinating stories. Great reviews from the big dogs in Crusader history too! #crusades#twitterstorians https://t.co/22lNRenlxd
Researching medieval conduct literature today. My three favourite recommendations are as follows:
1. Don't mount your horse in the hall.
2. Don't burp in another dinner guest's face.
3. Don't attack your enemy when they are doing a poo.
#twitterstorians - a very specific question about Gower's Confessio Amantis, Book VII, 380-520. Anyone know where his section on complexions came from? Was it lifted from somewhere? I'm interested on the focus on sexuality, which I haven't seen in other Mid English examples..
Selling this delicious specimen if anyone is interested. Clavinova CLP 230 with 88 keys. It has some cosmetic damage but still works beautifully: https://t.co/m1uIBHY6tj
I just watched to see how many signatures came in one minute. Over 100. In ONE MINUTE! I’ve signed this. Sign too. It’s currently 4.15am in the UK. Come morning let’s smash this. It’s too much! Petition: Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU. https://t.co/CU5uyO5ERq
My wildly busy, intelligent and interesting friend @madeleine_beth has been working hard on this series of talks exploring #FreeSpeech on 1st, 5th and 8th of March in Bloomsbury. Register for free in the thread below:
SOAS Free Speech Soc (@FreeSoas) is hosting a series of events on the politics of free speech-what does it look like, who defines it, and how is it being utilised and politicised by different groups?

It's high time for systemic economic change. Turning from an ethic of ownership to an ethic of usership will be key if we are to get a handle on rampant consumerism, and begin to tackle climate change. https://t.co/Br56zobe62
Around 1420 AD a cat peed on this manuscript and a Deventer scribe added illustrations of the event, by drawing hands pointing toward the stain and cursing the feline with the following words:
A reminder that there is a lovely FREE gig happening at @staldatestavern in #Oxford this Thurs, 15th Nov! We (@ljwilliamsmusic @AP_Mort and David Fitzgerald) booked out the upstairs room and it’s cute as anything so shimmy on down with your ears and your beer money. Doors 7.30!
On 9th Nov I will be supporting the amazing folk duo @gilmoreroberts in Didcot, Oxford 🙌 Katriona and Jamie are 3 x nominees for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and have toured with Fairport Convention, so I feel hugely honoured to be supporting them!! Tix: https://t.co/fyiuSLNNO3
