alright. let’s say ariana came onto social media tomorrow and said, “you were all correct. i do infact have an eating disorder.” then what? what exactly do people think their job is after that? she’s a global celebrity, not someone’s fucking neighbour. she has family. friends. a management team. a record label. doctors. people who ACTUALLY know her. fans are consumers. they are observers. they are not her treatment team, and acting as though it’s the internet’s responsibility to diagnose and manage the health of a woman they’ve never met and know nothing about is absolutely absurd.

people keep acting as though posting “she looks like she’s dying” or “she’s way too skinny” is some noble act of awareness, but if she were genuinely suffering from an eating disorder, there’s a very real possibility that this kind of obsessive public scrutiny would be harmful rather than helpful. recovery from an eating disorder isn’t fuelled by millions of strangers analysing your body from every conceivable angle and in MOST cases, having your appearance constantly dissected becomes part of the disorder itself, reinforcing an unhealthy fixation on weight, shape, and external validation.

so please, enlighten me, what is actually being achieved by turning “is ariana grande too skinny?” into a weekly trending topic? IF the concern is sincere (and i really truly doubt it is), saying it once is enough. after that, it stops reading as concern and starts reading as malice. there is a difference between expressing concern and endlessly consuming someone’s body as a topic of entertainment. i am so fucking sick to death of strangers on the internet who are convinced they have both the authority and the obligation to comment on a woman’s body every single day. THIS IS NOT ADVOCACY.

Nolan prende il mito, lo ingigantisce, lo fa rimbombare in sala. Sì, è un’americanata. Ma è un’americanata fatta come si deve, con una consapevolezza cinematografica che oggi si vede sempre più di rado. Se l’obiettivo era riportare sul grande schermo il senso dello spettacolo epico dei colossal come Ben-Hur o I dieci comandamenti, facendolo scoprire anche a chi quelle storie non le ha mai viste, allora la missione è centrata.

La colonna sonora è monumentale: arcaica, vibrante, quasi tribale. Non accompagna semplicemente le immagini, ma sembra emergere dalla terra e dal mare insieme ai personaggi. E quando tace, lascia spazio ai rumori naturali e ai silenzi, che diventano altrettanto potenti.

Una delle cose che mi ha fatto sorridere di più è Agamennone: la cui figura nera, imponente, geometrica, ricorda quasi Darth Vader.
E funziona. Quell’armatura smisurata, quasi disumana, trasforma il re in una figura tragica ancora prima che pronunci una parola, come se fosse già prigioniero del destino che lo aspetta.

Le sequenze dedicate a Circe e Polifemo sono tra le più riuscite. Nolan le porta al limite dell’horror senza perdere il sapore del mito: inquietanti, disturbanti, memorabili.

Charlize Theron, diciamolo, non la si manda via tanto facilmente. La sua Calipso è molto diversa da quella omerica: meno seduttrice, più adulta, riflessiva e malinconica. Una donna immortale che sembra aver già vissuto troppe eternità.

Anne Hathaway, invece, probabilmente offre la miglior interpretazione del film. La sua Penelope non è solo la moglie che aspetta: è il vero centro emotivo della storia, una presenza forte, intelligente, che tiene insieme Itaca mentre tutto il resto si sgretola.

Anche l’Ulisse di Nolan si discosta da quello di Omero. L’eroe astuto “dal multiforme ingegno” lascia spazio a un uomo già segnato prima ancora che inizi il viaggio. La trasformazione non nasce dopo Troia: sembra cominciare nel momento dell’addio a Penelope, a Telemaco e alla sua casa, quando capisce che la guerra gli porterà via qualcosa che non potrà più recuperare.

E poi ci sono Eumeo e Argo. Ogni loro scena è un colpo al cuore. Impossibile non amarli. E impossibile non commuoversi.

Non è un adattamento filologico, né pretende di esserlo. È Nolan che prende un poema di quasi tremila anni fa e lo traduce nel linguaggio del grande cinema contemporaneo: enorme, spettacolare, a tratti persino eccessivo. Ma quando le luci si riaccendono, viene voglia di tornare a leggere Omero. E forse è proprio questo il complimento più grande che si possa fare a un film del genere.
