[Pope Leo XIV @Pontifex]

In an age dominated by technology, in which efficiency and profit often take precedence, it is so important that we continue to cultivate a spirit of contemplation and allow time and space for beauty. Such an attitude will greatly help humanity, especially young people, to discover the ability of art to uplift and reveal the depths of the human spirit and our openness to the divine. Contemplation presents a marvelous opportunity to encounter the God who is Beauty.

“We live in the age of search engines that offer us thousands of instantaneous answers. Yet, no matter how powerful they may be, they merely return what already exists and tend to give us what we already want. In the age of technology and consumerism, the great danger is not only censorship but also homogenization, and not merely imposed silence but the noise that makes it impossible to listen.

“Art is a different kind of ‘search engine.’ It does not proceed by indexing but by inquiry. Indeed, its inquiry is a focused attention that is not satisfied with the mere sum of facts, for it never ceases to dig deeper, seeking the thread that unites them. Your art, when it resists homogenization, when it draws our gaze, when it compels us to pause before that which cannot be consumed, is a form of cultural and spiritual regeneration.” — Pope Leo XIV

“AI can process information quickly, but it cannot replace human intelligence. And don’t ask it to do your homework for you.” — Pope Leo XIV

i’m always being polite when i say “i think” or “if i remember correctly” because i remember and i’m correct

[Zy @ZyMazza]

Why do people think AI is conscious or sentient or whatever? It's because it talks to you. That's the whole reason. No one seems to think the Waymo or Tesla FSD is conscious even though it's just as complex (if not more) and even a remarkably similar architecture

Michael Holding took a caught-and-bowled to dismiss Ian Botham, but pulled his hamstring in the process. Botham then helped carry M. Holding off the field as he walked back to the pavilion himself.

A brilliant reminder of why we love this game.

The FIRST photo of a female White-cheeked Tody-Flycatcher in the hand! 🤯
This ULTRA rare species disappeared for 30 years from scientists after it was described in 1950! A super patchy distribution with specific habitat, this is a MEGA for us to band and release for research! 🌳

25 years ago, america mourned together. a long, confusing process. but we were a country. if it happened today the streamers would be blaming trump and the jews by this afternoon, and leftoids on tiktok would be saying the bankers deserved it. we’ve lost more than we realize.

Every lighthouse on the New England coast blinks on its own timing.

That's how sailors tell them apart in the dark. This map runs all of them on their real cycles.
