Though, I got a lot of fun things from over the past year or so to share before the real big moves are made around here. Have a splashpage of the koolest kat on X (it's me).
@Vaalrein_Hyena Been wondering this about all kinds of influencers, though I wonder if it's a Twitter/X thing where people don't get famous here, but rather import the followers from somewhere else where they're actually active with engagement.
@XanderAgian I think the point poison typing was never to be delivering heavy blows according to type advantage. Poison typing embodied more of an overall strategy of compounding chip damage than just beating rock over scissors.
@Timcast Been saying this since AI came out for public use. The average person isn't ready for it. We weren't even close to hashing out solutions to problems that widespread social media use was creating.
@Silast_UP You just confirmed my theory as to why we're suddenly seeing a massive explosion in Pokemon ROM hacks. I've been speculating this for months now. The only other explanation is everyone decided to take up fangame projects over COVID and they're all releasing now.
THIS IS GOOD AI
- Only used for tedious work
- Doesn't affect creative integrity
- Uses completely localised data
- Not from a data center
- Localised programs aren't bad for the environment in the same scale
- Data was taken with consent to the artists

Something just rubs me the wrong way that such an overwhelmingly positive opinion of AI has swept across all mid-level creators all of a sudden. Even creators that I would have never expected to just dive in headfirst are placing their bets all in on it.
I don't know if it's a lack of true visual media literacy, being easily impressed, or being total consequentialists without care of the details of the final product or the process to get there.
@jaffo_studios It's actually a clickbait tactic for a lot of low-brow content creators/farms. They do it on purpose because the mistake grabs people's attention and they engage out of frustration, or they might even be curious now that their attention's been grabbed.
From mom's account, it's most likely that the lady may have been trying to pull a fast one (though not sure if they actually paid for the booth). Even without pay, if you buy yourself a new hammer, you're very excited to use it.
A family friend told me a story about how she was throwing a grad party for her son and one of the invitees offered to run a novelty photo booth at the party.
I think what grinds my gears the most about widespread consumer use of gen. AI is how a lot of peeps try and sweep the fact that they're using it under the rug as if using AI isn't a big deal to a lot of people.
I don't buy the lady running the booth had no idea about the controversy, and if she felt lik gen. AI was such a miracle editing tool, then she would have advertised it for it's coolness and efficacy.
