It’s a *Toy* Story 🤠
You knew it! My new original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Disney and @Pixar’s @toystory 5 will be yours on June 5th. I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?
You can pre-order now exclusively at https://t.co/NoneI6kxdH and catch Toy Story 5 in theaters June 19th ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
The countdown was on Taylor's website for 10 minutes before her team yanked it. By then the screenshot was already on every entertainment account on the internet.
This is the most efficient piece of demand creation in entertainment, and the actual reveal hasn't happened yet.
Toy Story 5 opens June 19, 2026. Taylor released her debut single "Tim McGraw" on June 19, 2006. Disney locked the June 19 release date in early 2024 when she was still on the Eras Tour. The 20-year alignment was the play.
The math on Disney's side is clean. Toy Story 4 grossed $1.074B globally. A Taylor original on the closing credits pulls a measurable opening weekend bump from a fanbase that just routed $2.07B and 10.1M tickets through the Eras Tour. Disney is paying for access to the most efficient demand-creation system in entertainment. The song is the receipt.
The trade is even better on her side. Soundtrack songs run forever. "Safe and Sound" from Hunger Games is still pulling Spotify streams 14 years later. A Toy Story original lives in every household with a kid for the next 30 years and gets refreshed every time Disney puts out a re-release. She's annuitizing her catalog into Disney's permanent IP layer.
A 16-year-old singing about a Tim McGraw song in Hendersonville. Twenty years to the day, an original song closing the highest-grossing animated franchise in history. Most pop stars think in album cycles. She's been thinking in 20-year arcs since she was a teenager.
