Probably will do a public screening of the Aisle 6 recording if anyone on here would be interested ^_^ Had a handful of people ask me in person which is exciting and validating ๐
Iโll still go through phases of severely missing people, but itโs also not other peoples obligation to fill that void. Struggling with anxious-attachment knocks me down a lot for sure. It can hurt. I just remind myself a lot more these days that people have a shit ton going on.
One of the things that realllllly helped me is just picking up on my friendsโ response patterns and shifting my expectations accordingly. It doesnโt bother me if someone doesnโt respond for 3-4 months because I know thats the timeframe they have the capacity for.
Anxious attachment is a real, genuine struggle, especially if you are always the one reaching out and it's almost never returned.
People need to understand it takes a LOT of work to try and heal past that.
Still canโt believe there are auditions for a production of Aisle 6. Seriously one of the biggest positive impact on my mental health this year. It really is motivating to make me write more, and to help push imposter syndrome down a bit.
Wow you mean living through economic collapse after collapse, oh and school shootings, oh and a housing/living wage crisis, OH AND STUDENT DEBT INTEREST, OH AND THE CLIMATE, AND LGBTQ RIGHTS AND BODILY AUTONOMY-
My retirement plan is a tall bridge.
Itโs so funny to think back on how many versions and how long it took me to figure out the second half of Aisle 5 (because it was originally a one-act) and then I sit down and smash out two full acts for Aisle 6 in two weeks because I didnโt make that mistake again.
JK I wrote another play in a week and so I think I just need to do that like...four more times...So I can crank out Dusktown, Aisle 7, The Isle, and a Murder Mystery I've yet to name.
I spent my afternoon reading every play on NPX with "Aisle" in the title to see what my competition looks like...and I might be unbelievably biased but they all suck extreme levels of ass.
@bistrowen Brian! (You definitely don't know me!) But I was a photographer/videographer for Dorset back in 16/17 and I'm going back through old footage (tonight it was Baskerville) and just wanted all these years later to commend your hilarious performance. Makes me cry-laugh.
