Hi Ayne, Irish Jew here, daughter of a German born Holocaust surviver. I should be angry at this outrageously stupid and ridiculis post and was tempted to scroll on, with an eye roll, but found I could not. So.. here goes ..I love my country, Ireland, and its people. We Irish "give out" a lot about many things, and rightly so, but when it gets down to the nitty gritty we stick together, love and protect each other. There is a long history of oppression and colonialism in Ireland which allows us Irish to understand the subject pretty darn well. I have many many friends here, most of whom I have no clue of what religion they might or might not practice or even how they vote in elections as that is of no interst to me and its a vice versa thing. The Irish couldn't give a sheit if you are Jewish or not. They do however, give a sheit, if you are blowing children to pieces, commiting genocide and stealing homes and land. The few people who I do know to be Jewish or of Jewish decent, are venimtly anti Zionist, as am I, and can be found on the front lines of Free Palestine marches, even speaking at them. To us..never again means never again.. to any one ..anywhere... ever! I hope that clarifies the issue for you.

I won’t pretend that my being held by armed agents of the British state under the TERRORISM Act was not a personal Rubicon for me. It was very definitely a turning point.
But as I said at the time, repeatedly, several earlier episodes had holed my allegiance to the British state as it turned out fatally.
The role of the British state in assisting in the murder of Gaza and the subsequent anathematising of the millions of our people who rose up against it. The twisting and destruction of ancient liberties in defence of the most hated foreign power in the world has been more damaging than our rulers have yet realised.
The endless provocation of Russia by Europe has been mainly driven by the British state. Yet by raising my voice against it I lived in fear of being criminalised and my words extinguished by censorship and even imprisonment.
I grew up in a time in which in Britain I could speak freely even before being elected seven times to the British Parliament and certainly within it. That Britain no longer exists.
Having striven with 17.4 million others to remove our country from the tyranny of the European Union I discovered that our own tyranny could be quite as grim and moreover without a vote being cast for it we were on our way back in!
So Britain is dead to me now.
Not the people of course, they are my people and I theirs, and always will be so.
I love still the contours of our land and the cadences of our language every last dialect of it.
But it’s goodbye to the British state from me. And forward to a Republic in an independent Scotland. And a hope that one day all the peoples of our island will be together again. In mutual respect and harmony. Which I continue to call socialism.

The centuries old sectarian threats between Shias and Sunnis have been the dividing line which have diverted and squandered the resources of Muslim communities throughout the world.
But this self inflicting internal divisions have been used by both external and internal forces like internally by Muslim rulers in Bahrain and elsewhere to strengthen their divide and rule policies and control over Muslim populations and society.
Because whether it is President Trump, genocidal Netanyahu or the Gulf rulers the Sunni-Shia internal conflict and strife has been weaponised as a weapon of war called soft power to destructively defeat Muslims from within in ways through which no other means could accomplish.
Therefore, what is happening in Bahrain where Sunnis and Shias are uniting as a common front against the genocidal Israeli and American war of aggression against Iran is historically significant.
Because for centuries the Shia Sunni dividing fault lines could not be bridged peacefully.
But if this war of aggression against Iran unites the Shia and Sunni Muslims it will be the unintended consequences of a victory which will put Muslim countries on a growth and development path as Muslims rather than as sectarian groups.
Therefore, there is much we can learn from the Catholics and Protestants who were fighting each other for centuries but then buried their theological differences in the graveyard of self inflicting internal divisions which impoverished faith communities.
