Ran Bath half marathon in support of Prostate Cancer UK. First half marathon, though ran many 5ks/10ks as Governor in Cayman Islands. Almost 10000 runners, crowds and spring sunshine. Enjoyed first visit to wonderful city of Bath and exploring amazing Roman baths.

A while back local artist Chris Christian gifted us a wonderful painting entitled “Bath Pan”. We will leave it at Government House for future visitors to enjoy and have purchased a smaller copy to take back to the UK with us - a reminder of all our Cayman memories.
More turtle lighting has been installed at Government House. Thanks to @doecayman. Artificial lighting is a threat to turtles. In the last 3 years, 623 nests were laid in locations with problematic lighting. Funding for lighting is available in some cases. Contact [email protected]
Visited CI Civil Aviation Authority to say farewell ahead of departure next week. CAACI plays key part in ensuring Cayman conforms to international standards & best practices with support from UK’s ASSI. My thanks to excellent team for visit to their new office.
One last evening with our wonderful seafarers at the Seafarers Association AGM. Our seafarers and families have given so much to the Cayman Islands. They have helped make our Islands the great success they they are today. Younger generations owe them a debt of gratitude.
Attended #opening of new John Gray High School. Very impressed with new world class facilities - an important investment in our #youth. Congrats to Minister, Principal and senior teams. Our public schools are making very strong #progress
Final post from Cayman Brac as we bid fond farewell to amazing community we got to know so well over last four and a half years. Farewell dinner and visit to Agriculture Show. Will always have fond memories of Brac and community. Last few days have added so many more.
First day in Cayman Brac for farewell visit wonderful and moving. Premier and Minister O’Connor-Connolly joined us. In packed day, visited 99 year old Ms Viva Smith, 3 Brac schools, Hospital, Community Centre, Nursery and Fire Service. Played football with Cayman Brac players.
Farewell visit to Little Cayman. Thank you Minister O’Connor-Connolly for accompanying me and to District Commissioner Tibbetts/team. I spoke at a community event, visited CCMI to see a lionfish dissection and undertook a farewell tour of the Island. Cayman Brac next!
Attended naming ceremony for #LOUDSilentVoices supported living home – plays key role in mental health transition back to society. Pleased to see progress in tackling #mentalhealth. Thanks to all involved in educating/supporting/raising awareness about mental health in #Cayman.
Reception for brilliant #Youth Parliamentarians. Debated taxation and public transport. Cayman’s future in safe hands with these talented young people. Debate part of Cayman’s Commonwealth Day celebrations - church service, flag-raising. Commonwealth force for good in world.

I joined the Premier & Mr Hurlston from the Royal Commonwealth Society to raise the #Commonwealth Flag in celebration of Commonwealth Day 2023. We were joined by HE Emina Tudakovic, Consul General of Canada in Jamaica. Commonwealth is a force for good in the world.
Today I met a delegation from the Cayman Islands, led by the Education Minister Hon Julianna O’Connor-Connolly. We discussed approaches to governance in the school system and the approach to the teaching of reading. @educationgovuk

On International Women’s Day, reception to mark 20th Anniversary of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC). They do important work to support men, women and children who are victims of domestic abuse, offering shelter, helplines, support to victims and to at risk youth.
