I'm now on BlueSky: @maruno42.bsky.social. There's no guarantee I'm going to be active there, and if I am, I may well just post the same things both here and there. I just thought you'd like to know.
there's been debate over the years about how much articles from press harm under-the-radar fan projects based on popular series. according to pokemon's former chief lawyer, who @LukePlunkett interviewed, the answer is: a lot

How many double battles/non-standard battles do you have in your game?
Have you considered adding an option to the Options screen that lets the player choose to make all battles double battles if possible? Or options for other battle variants that aren't commonly used.
Do fangames really need two messages when picking up an item? You could combine the "found an item" and "put in X Bag pocket" messages into one. You could also show the item's icon and maybe even description in a splash panel.
When people say "my fangame has Megas", have they ever thought about tweaking the Mega Evolution mechanics? For example, giving access to special moves à la Z-Moves, or replacing the Mega Stone requirement with a different one and making it last only a few turns à la Dynamaxing.
@TheRbade That's still requiring them to hunt through the Bag for the new item, when the current behaviour already gives them that information with no effort.
@TheRbade It's not necessary if you already know which pocket every single item goes in. If a fangame invents its own items or changes the pockets, how is the player going to know? There's no harm in saying it anyway.
Perhaps the Day Care could also have a hatchery, where you give them eggs and money and they hatch them for you.
Also, maybe low-level deposited Pokémon should gain Exp faster (what "low-level" means depends on how far through the game you are), to more easily make them usable.
@mattgcn Not at the moment, thanks. It'll take some time to learn exactly how the new content works, and PBS files for the new mons aren't really useful if there is no code for the new moves/abilities/items yet.
Feel free to write up those files as a resource for the community anyway.
Pokémon Essentials turns 15 years old today!
How long have you been using it? What do you like the most about it? Do you think it'll keep going for another 15 years?
