'Andrew Marvell at 400' is a year-long celebration of the Hull poet and politician Andrew Marvell who celebrates his 400th birthday in 2021. Tweets by @RenRuins
It's #NationalPoetryDay - and in the year of his 400th birthday let's commemorate Hull-raised Andrew Marvell, politician, propagandist and poet. The City unveiled this statue of him in 1921.

#Marvell400 As well as having the honour of proofreading a doctoral thesis on Andrew Marvell, I enjoy chancing upon references to his poetry in novels:
Life After Life by Kate Atkinson
The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham
Starter for Ten by David Nicholls (@DavidNWriter)
Happy Birthday Andrew Marvell - 400 today! Here he is not looking a day over 42 - @Hull_Museums 'Hollis Portrait' - and the ceremony at his statue, then at the junction of Jameson and George Streets, #OTD 1921.

We're looking forward to an evening of poetry readings and panel discussion @HullUniEvents this evening as academics, poets, and political figures come together to celebrate Marvell's life, literature, and legacy, 400 years on. https://t.co/VySMt13HaA
Happy 400th Birthday Andrew Marvell! Born #OTD 31 March 1621 in the rectory at Winestead, near Patrington, some 15 miles south-east of Hull. The rectory itself has been rebuilt, but the church in which Marvell was baptised (on 5 April) still stands.
Who knew? That in the 1600's "lockdowns, self-isolations, and school closures were as much a part of Marvell’s England as our own". Enjoyed reading @RenRuins blog @Marvellat400

Happy 400th birthday to Andrew Marvell, born #otd in 1621! Read more about his intriguing life and his time at #TrinityCam (where he was admitted when only 12 years old) in our most recent blog post: https://t.co/al28k0uj9Q. @MarvellSociety@univofstandrews@marvellat400
@NuitsdeY@Hullhistorynews @RenRuins @hull_libraries@Hull_Museums Thanks and well spotted @NuitdeY - the dating of this recipe is significant for the dating of C DIAM/1 more generally and it's something I explore in the #open access article mentioned in the tweet by @Hullhistorynews. In fact only 60% of C DIAM/1 is in Marvell Senior's hand.
This week we mark Andrew Marvell's 400th birthday @marvellat400
We hold his father's 'Sermon Book' [C DIAM/1]. It includes this 'Remedy against the plague' - which may've contributed to Marvell's death - see https://t.co/Ymk3RnTpWU by @RenRuins
