(🧵) THREAD: Donald Trump is clearly fading mentally and physically. His running mate was handpicked by a Kremlin-agent white supremacist (Tucker Carlson) and two creepy far-right billionaire techno-authoritarians (Peter Thiel and Elon Musk).
This is not the election you think.
"An attempt to rapidly deport twelve million people will also change everyone else. As Trump has said, such an action will have to bring in law enforcement at all levels. Such a huge mission will effectively redefine the purpose of law enforcement: the principle is no longer to make all people feel safe, but to make some people unsafe. And of course the diversion of law enforcement resources to deportation means that crimes will not be investigated or prosecuted. So some people will be radically less safe, but everyone regardless of status will in fact be less safe.
Such an enormous deportation will requires an army of informers. People who denounce their neighbors or coworkers will be presented as positive examples. Denunciation then becomes a culture. If you are Latino, expect to be denounced at some point, and expect special attention from a government that will demand your help to find people who are not documented. This is especially true if you are a local civic or business leader. You will be expected to collaborate in the deportation effort: if you do, you will be harming others; if you do not, you risk being seen as disloyal yourself. This painful choice can be avoided not at a later point but only now, by voting against mass deportations.
The attempt to deport twelve million people will likely generate some resistance. It is hard to imagine that every single person will willingly cooperate. Some will run, some will hide with friends; and, inevitably, a moment will arise when law enforcement will claim (truly or not) that an undocumented person used force in trying to elude deportation. This moment is not a side effect: it is part of the plan.
The deep purpose of a mass deportation is to establish a new sort of politics, a politics of us-and-them, which means (at first) everyone else against the Latinos. In this new regime, the government just stokes the fears and encourages the denunciations, and we expect little more of it. If Trump and Vance win, this dynamic will be hard to stop, especially of they have majorities in Congress. The only way to avoid it is to stop them in November with the vote."
BREAKING: In a stunning admission, one of the most conservative Senators, Senator Mitch McConnell, admitted it was Donald Trump who sabotaged the toughest border security legislation proposed in decades. Retweet to make sure every American sees this
Scenario: Trump is elected.
Trump immediately cuts off funding for Ukraine's defense, NATO (US allies) are in turmoil as Russian troops start to mass at Poland's border. Poland and other countries call for a US response, they are ignored.
Meanwhile Trump again starts a trade war with China, imposing heavy tariffs not only on China, but on US allies like Canada and the EU. Food prices in the USA skyrocket.
Several incursions on Polish territory by Russian Troops takes place. NATO decides to move into a defensive posture against Russia without US backing.
President Xi of China sees the USA as weak for not defending a NATO ally and moves it's NAVY into Taiwan's territory - a land invasion seems imminent. Trump threatens China economically, but since he's put such heavy tariffs on China, it's meaningless. China invades Taiwan - Trump does nothing.
Taking a hint from China, Russia moves more Troops onto Polish land, Putin knows Trump won't do a damn thing - Trump's Putin's buddy. NATO and Russia go to war without the USA.
Meanwhile in the USA, jobs are being cut because of the skyrocketing costs of goods, social unrest is at it's maximum. Angry people march in the streets demanding something to be done about the economic catastrophe that is happening, and they are met by federal troops as Trump declares a state of emergency and martial law is imposed.
Democratic Senators and Congressmen are arrested by Trump loyalists, and there is nothing anyone can do about it because MAGA owns the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch - the legislative branch is now meaningless.
People are arrested for speaking out against Trump - the Constitution is nullified, and in place of it a new Evangelical Theocratic State is installed, which gives the president unlimited power and names him as "Gods Messenger".
Fuck around and find out.
I am so fortunate to still play tennis at my age. But there sure is a lot of (completely worth it) prep work involved!
Here's some background on my pre-tennis routine from this video:
1. Put on two braces: one on each knee
2. Switch to my tennis glasses, and l always carry a backup pair with me, just in case. One pair is a throwback to my favorite pair from the 1970s
3. Wear gloves, both to protect my hands from sun, and also to help with carpal tunnel
4. Use exercise bands to warm up shoulders, triceps, and biceps for forehands/ backhands. 60 reps for each
5. Perform 20 squats + stretching.
And an important tip: Watch the ball all the way to the contact point. At the pro level, 50% of balls are missed because of not watching the ball all the way to the contact point. At the rec level, it's 90%.
Get out there and play!
@LeaVerou Cyan is a printing-industry standard ink color. It has a precise definition.
Teal has no such meaning in any industry—it’s nebulous. Copywriters might name a product’s color teal, but that can describe anything from a medium aqua to a dark blue-green.
@LeaVerou We have Fiestaware plates in teal that are nearly pastel aqua, to my eye, while my teal sweaters are almost as dark as navy or hunter green.
If we were talking strictly about full-intensity hues, cyan would be #08F and teal would exist as a range—maybe #098 to #09C.
@retrobinkie@VirgisViews@CartoonsHateHer When I had kids—the 90s. I got a call that my son had been mean to another kid and it was still expected I was going to take care of it. Not make excuses for him. And I assured that mom I would
If you're a Dem who started the week off panicking about the Quinnipiac poll, the least you can do is also share this one as a counterbalance. And know that the most likely scenario right now is a very close race.
