A primary school teacher in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district, Dinesh Kumar Mathur, has been suspended after a video showing him tapping a child’s head like a tabla went viral on social media.

In the video, Mathur is seen sitting on a chair while a child sits on the floor in front of him. He repeatedly taps the child’s head as if playing a drum, laughing as other children seated nearby join in.

The teacher had reportedly recorded the video and posted it on his Facebook account. After it went viral, the Basic Education Department took note of the incident. Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Dr Rajesh Kumar suspended Mathur with immediate effect, treating his conduct as an act of indiscipline.

The department has initiated an investigation, and further action will depend on its findings. The incident has sparked concerns over teacher conduct and the need to ensure children are treated with dignity and respect in classrooms.
