Great coaching session with @laurarathbone this morning. Exploring how to hold space as a clinician when working with the person in pain.

@OnlinePhysios Sounds like he will have to explore doing so with pain. Noticing avoidance behaviours while exposing to pain: breathing, tension, shifting, thoughts, feelings etc. Using breathing as an anchor. Exploring why sitting more is useful and being wiling to explore with pain there.

@OnlinePhysios Hmm. What about exploring valued activities, reading , watching TV, eating etc all much easier sitting. What us he missing out on by avoiding sitting? What is this avoidance costing him? Can he consider doing more sitting with pain present so not missing out?

@OnlinePhysios Yes. It's a hard one. I think refer him on. The stress of maintaining an open authentic patient centred stance when you are noticing those misgivings is just too much, or would be for me in that situation.
