You may have strong views on immigration, how many people are allowed in, who gets in and how they get here, but this is about more than that. It’s about how we treat people. Let’s all try to be decent human beings and treat people with kindness and respect.
Very interesting that the attention of the House of Lords reform being championed here is religiously motivated.
There is a conversation to be had about representation of different religious groups in the Lords. But I for one am grateful for the way that the Bishops use their voices to champion issues that are in the public interest, issues such as:
Social Justice and Poverty: Advocating for policies to address poverty, inequality, and welfare reform, with a focus on supporting the vulnerable.
Refugees and Asylum Seekers: Supporting compassionate immigration policies, including refugee protection and family reunification.
Climate Change and Environmental Stewardship: Urging for action on climate change, promoting sustainable practices, and protecting the environment.
Human Rights and Religious Freedom: Advocating for human rights and religious freedom, both domestically and internationally.
Family and Community Well-being: Supporting policies that strengthen family life, mental health resources, and community cohesion.
They have no political affiliation so are free to raise these concerns without subscribing to a party line.
If we are going to talk about Lord's reform wouldn't it be good to talk about the abuse of it by @GavinWilliamson 's own party:
For example, during Boris Johnson's tenure as Prime Minister, 14 out of 50 Conservative peers appointed were either already significant donors or went on to donate substantial sums to the party. Notable individuals include billionaire businessmen Michael Spencer and Michael Hintze, along with banker Peter Cruddas. In total, these appointments contributed approximately £51.8 million in donations, with most going to the Conservative Party. About 27 individuals who were donors received peerages over the past decade, reflecting a concerning correlation between donations and appointments to the House of Lords
I often have a moan about bad service in cafes and restaurants in their accommodation of dietary requirements. So big shout out to the friendly staff at @CostaCoffee in Aberdeen Union Square for rustling up a fabulous autumn vegan latte.
Been sent this post by a few Christian women. Each man in this photo should be aware that aligning yourself with abuse apologist JJohn & accused abuser Russell Brand shows us Who You Are & what matters to you, & what matters to you is certainly not your sisters in Christ.
There are about 400 verses in the Bible calling us to care for immigrants, foreigners, and refugees.
I can only image how grieved God is when people who claim to be Christians make up racist lies about these folks God loves so much.
"Today marks a grim milestone for the world. The people of Gaza are now grieving 40,000 Palestinian lives lost, according to Gaza’s health ministry. Most of the dead are women and children. This unimaginable situation is overwhelmingly due to recurring failures by the Israeli Defense Forces to comply with the rules of war."

The Church of Scotland's Israel Palestine committee has written to the UK Government to urge for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

We know the real prosperity of a nation is not measured by the number of millionaires, but by the inclusiveness of its education system, the absence of poverty, the care it offers to its most vulnerable members, and the equality of opportunity it extends to all. 1/10
This one never gets old: We hide our pain, but sometimes we forget that other people do it too. Remember that the things people present are usually just the tip of the iceberg. Be kind, you don’t know who needs it.💜
