@SteeleThoughts Building relationships with our students, faculty and staff is so important in understanding the whys of human behavior. Understanding does not mean excusing. Understanding allows us to communicate more effectively with empathy and compassion.
When dealing with others, remember that there’s always more than meets the eye. Everyone has a story to tell. Even if they don’t tell it, the story is still there.
I share this poem during each of my back to school PDs. Have the courage to have those difficult conversations...like how schools can further traumatize students and mask it by calling it a protective factor #cre#CulturallyResponsiveEducation#educhat#HackingSchoolDiscipline
Students won’t learn from someone they don’t like.
Build relationships. Know their stories. Love them even if you don’t like their behavior.

We’ve got to have the right people doing the right work. Find the gifts in our team members and empower them to soar. THAT is what makes for a successful team. We are all in it together!

Highly functioning & creative teams don't result from top-down mandates & initiatives. They result from a shared commitment of doing work that matters... together...via #everydayinstructionalcoaching
If education is really “all about the kids” then why does it generally:
*limit physical activity, play time, the arts, socialization
*focus only on standardized tests as success
* give students little voice/input into learning
* focuses on their weaknesses not strengths
Our students need a safe place to make mistakes, learn academics and social skills. Our students need a place to call their own. When students have ownership in their classroom they tend to take more responsibility.
We are educating good humans!
I don't know who needs to hear this today.
You do not need a theme for your classroom.
You do not need to spend a lot of money making your room "perfect" or "cute".
Your students need a room that is theres (not yours) where they are seen and heard. That can't be bought
@SteeleThoughts In order to truly support students, administrators must IMMERSE themselves with everything in the classrooms. It’s the only way to honestly support teachers and therefore SUPPORT STUDENTS...discover what they go through on a daily basis.
