In case you were wondering about the variety of animals a veterinarian can treat, there's an emoji for that:
@EM_RESUS Hi, DVM here. Quit dunking on the woman who tried to help a dying animal. She gets it.
It was screaming, not dead, when her cat had it. Unsurprisingly, kind people try to help injured animals.
@BrooksWalsh@CaitlynMooneyMD Guess what? These โbizarreโ details are also used by certain doctors who use the information to treat their patients. And yes, we can do crics, etc itโs just harder. I used a 24g OTN cath to intubate this guy to clear his airway. Itโs not a joke when itโs your job to save them
@SaltyEMNY@marklewismd Unless you are attempting resuscitation on a bunny or other tiny creature, kitten puppy, etc. When your patientโs weights can be measured in tic tac equivalents (1 tic tac= 50 grams), different rules apply. I had a 150 gram mouse two weeks ago sometimes interventions work
@RVTShape We euthanized a hamster yesterday- he passed peacefully with his owner and his three hand made teddy bears. And a sweet old hunting dog holding his favorite pheasant wing. Their last minutes can be so peaceful and so beautiful, surrounded by love, no pain, no fear.
@thekjohnston One of my dog ๐ถ patients was so nervous, she pooped in my lap, twice actually, during her appointment. It happens, Hamish. And my second ๐ patient this morning, peed on me. It was a day. ๐พโค๏ธ๐พ
@MatthewKelsoDVM I diagnosed two dogs in the SAME family with cancer on the SAME day. One had mild lameness, the other increased panting. osteosarcoma in one and huge pulmonary mass, the other. A+ owner- oncology referrals for both. Lost the second one today. Some days really suck.
@TheDinahRaven @LakotaMan1 Check out Aftershocks head phones- you can listen but hear ambient noise (obviously volume dependent). Has been a game changer for me. I know several runners/bicyclists who use them too to be able to hear traffic
@WFKARS @cvspharmacy Random unrelated internet stranger here - please tell your prior auth person how much patients appreciate their (and your!) efforts on our behalf. My med team has had to go through this so often and as patients we are rarely have direct contact with them. ๐
