Anyway, jokes aside. Ramaphosa made Palestine and international legal accountability a prominent part of his main intervention on multilateralism at #BRICS2026 a few days ago . He explicitly said that SA and other states had approached the ICJ to seek justice for Palestinians. He also called for accountability for the “ongoing genocide against the Palestinians” and argued that international law cannot be applied selectively. That must have sounded like swear words to the US. So its top "diplomat" @SecRubio has to do what he has to do.

And that is why I ask @GovernmentZA @PresidencyZA - what is the point of these regular "visits" to this ambassador? Which other ambassador gets ministers, almost on a weekly basis, coming to HIS turf for meetings and then before they even leave, posts absolute lies about South Africa? Which other Ambassador and mission has had the president and his senior aides meeting with them? This was a few weeks ago and yet here is @USAmbRSA lying viciously about a country that has afforded him respect and generosity? What is the value-add of these meetings that HE asks for? He gets indulged by the highest leadership of South Africa and then almost immediately, spits on the nation's face.

In this week when the nation is mourning brutal rapes and murders of women, this week when the possibility of a serial killer targeting Black women - this is what the ambassador of "the most powerful nation in the world" tweets?

I'm surprised some prominent South Africans are falling for Ambassador Bozell's sob story. He is telling you all that he is getting flack from Washington for not being hard enough on South Africa, for changing his views and being positive about the country. Really? Does the tweet below sound like someone who has become positive and wants to build relations? Stop falling for this manipulation, designed to get into your good books. Bozell is a hostile and dishonest ambassador. You owe him nothing.

Dina Pule? ANC tradition trumps right and wrong? How did she leave parliament the first time? Here is a reminder:

July 2013, President Zuma removed her as Minister of Communications. Even by Zuma's low standards, she was not fit for office.

A parliamentary ethics inquiry subsequently found that she had breached Parliament's Code of Ethical Conduct. Pule had failed to disclose material aspects of her relationship with Phosane Mngqibisa, enabling him to benefit improperly from government-related activities. She also misled the inquiry on key facts.

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela issued a report finding that Pule had acted unlawfully and unethically, concluding that she had "persistently" misled investigators and recommending that she apologise and repay public funds spent on Mngqibisa's travel.

And today, 13 years later, @CyrilRamaphosa thinks this doesn't matter. It matters to many voters and you can not wish us away.

Hate is not the answer!

Can we be honest and agree that the anti-foreigner sentiments are rooted in unaddressed economic and social wants that are plaguing black communities exacerbated by uncontrolled immigration.

Can we be honest that townships and black rural areas are bearing a disproportionate share of the uncontrolled inflows and consequent socio-economic pressures that such inflows place on economic opportunities, housing and shared public services such as schools and hospital spaces, water and electricity.

Can we admit that the absence of a national economic policy framework that seeks to reverse the colonial and apartheid disablement of rural and township economic ecosystems and related livelihoods is a major contributory factor.

That said, hate is not the answer!
