You can’t go to work, to the MALL, to the grocery store, to your church, to the movies or the bank.
You can’t attend a concert, go to a dance class or go to see your doctor. You can’t ring a doorbell, use a leaf blower, hop in a car, pull down a driveway, bounce a ball, or ask the neighbor to keep it down.
You can’t check out a farmer’s market or mail something at the post office or go to a parade, and you certainly can’t send your kids to school without worrying that someone will get shot.
That someone you LOVE will get shot.
Or that YOU will get shot.
This is where we are now.
This is not normal.
And this is not fucking ok.
It’s NOT fucking ok.
Five schools located within a 15-20-mile radius of each other — Oxnard, Buena, Camarillo, St. Bonaventure and Santa Paula — ready for semifinal tests Friday.

You don't help people get better by shaming them, embarrassing them, criticizing them or isolating them.
You help them get better by encouraging them, believing in them and holding them accountable to a better standard.
Call people up, not out.
God can handle all of the things we know we can’t. He is our possible in the midst of what can sometimes feel so impossible. He is our hope in all that looks hopeless.
“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Ps 25:5
Part of learning to see beautiful again is recognizing that a hard season doesn’t have to be full of only hard days.
There’s still beauty to be found.
There’s still joy to be found.
There’s still peace to be found.
There are still so many reasons to treasure life and thank God.
On the hard days, let's remember... God will restore us. He will strengthen us. He will make us strong in the midst of our feeling weak. And there’s a perfecting of us that’s happening in the process.
There is purpose even in this. There is hope in the midst of our pain.
Don’t let your mindset turn a hard day into a bad day, a tough situation into a toxic situation, a difficult conversation into a dramatic conversation.
Own your perspective. Own your response.
Make your mindset your advantage.
