🚨 To Senator Lindsey Graham… A message from the heart of Riyadh

Read this carefully, for what you are about to hear is not a flowery diplomatic statement, but the truth from the capital of decision-making that is leading the world towards a just peace:

Firstly: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia does not need lessons in ‘boldness’ from anyone. Remember, on 22 May 2026, Riyadh launched its historic ‘International Coalition for a Two-State Solution’ initiative, bringing together 165 nations from across the globe to endorse, recognise and support it. This is our international standing, and this is our boldness, which needs no endorsement from you.

Secondly: The entire world holds the Kingdom in the highest regard and esteem. We build our strategic relations with the East and the West, with Beijing, Moscow and Washington, and with the European Union, Britain and other influential international powers, in accordance with our national interests and our firm principles, not according to anyone’s dictates. And if you issue a statement linking the continuation of relations or threatening ‘grave repercussions’, you are thereby – in the most blatant manner – undermining the historic strategic relationship between the Kingdom and the United States. Such crude language is unbecoming of allies, and we address it only to those who are ignorant of the Kingdom’s standing and prestige.

Thirdly: Who inspired you to ask us to join the Abraham Accords as if you were doing us a favour or dictating our choices? Let us be clear with you: our position on the Palestinian cause is not a bargaining chip, and neither threats nor enticements will sway it. There will be no peace without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. This is the position we have declared to the world, and this is the essence of our initiative, which 165 countries have rallied behind. We are on the right side of history, and international legitimacy is on our side.

Fourthly: A word of free advice… Before you threaten and make threats, take a good look at the bigger picture. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia draws its strength first from God, then from its wise leaders throughout the centuries, from the founder King Abdulaziz, may God have mercy on him, to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and on to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is leading this historic transformation, alongside its loyal people and all free people of the world. Rest assured that history proves that Riyadh has never bowed down, and will not bow down today.

In conclusion: history will remember those who led the world towards a just peace, and it will remember those who gambled on the language of threats and blackmail and lost the bet. Do not misjudge the situation… again.

Baba Siddiqui has been killed and the police are pointing fingers at the Lawrence Bishnoi, a man in an Indian jail in Gujarat for the last 10 years. I am reminded of a killing of Irfan, a colleague, many years back. Please read this:

What I am about to say is chilling. But it happened. And I was a mute spectator. This is also the reason I speak up most vehemently against probable innocents being charged.

In 1999, one of the finest cartoonists of this country was working at Outlook. His name was Irfan Hussain. He was shy, perceptive and a master at his work. His cartoons used to hit people where it hurts. And because of his mastery, he was under constant threat. And one such threat was very credible that we reported to police too. And within a couple of months, in March 1999, he was murdered.

The police was under tremendous pressure from the journalist community. The President, the Prime Minister (Mr.Vajpayee) and every one in power was beseeched to get justice for Irfan's family. By the end of 1999, the police arrested 5 accused and charged them for carjacking and murder. Atleast 2 of them were from Anantnag in Srinagar. Charges were framed in 2001. After due process, the trial started in 2006. And once the trial started, the police conspiracy became clear. They had identified 5 carjackers from different places already facing trial in similar car jacking cases and charged them for Irfan's murder too. What was a political murder became a case of carjacking and murder. The charge sheet was so frivolous that they talked of 28 stab wounds inflicted on Irfan during the car jacking. However, when Irfan's clothes were produced, there wasn't a single blood stain on them! It is as if they disrobed him, stabbed him and put the clothes back on him. While acquitting the accused, the court said "looks like another story directly lifted either from a story book or from screen play of a movie," said the court. The police knew their own conspiracy, that they decided not to appeal the acquittal. They deflected the heat and succesfully saved the political masters, again!

Completely depressed and disgusted, we moved the court to order a re-investigation, which was declined as no evidence would exist after 10 years. However In 2009, the court ordered a probe into the investigation to fix responsibility within the police for the botch up.

To summarise, five supposedly innocent young men were arrested by police. The judiciary took seven years to acquit them. They spent seven years of their prime years in prison. Somewhere in India, Irfan's killers are alive and laughing. The political masters of the killers got rid of Irfan and continue to loot. And the police continues to do what it does best. Irfan is dead. And no one killed Irfan!

The question that should bother all of us. Would the real killers of Baba Siddiqui get punished?
